Anyone one on here go to gym or lift weights and stuff?

So I'm 6ft 2, I was sitting at a nice 112 kg with about 25% body fat, and I was really flat and always getting sick, so I thought fuck it, and bought a gym membership. I got on the tread mill and after two months of running twice a day, I had lost 22kgs, I decided to try out some weights, and I could hardly lift 5kg dumb-bells, I had run off most of my upper body muscle!

So I decided to start a weight training routine. It's now 4 months later, I weigh 105 kg with 13% body fat, I'd like to get to 110kg and then try cut off about 4kg of fat, and then just run maintenance.

My personal bests are:
110kg sqaut,
100kg deadlift
50kg overhead press
I don't really bench press, I have an issue with one of my arms, but my personal best for dumb bells chest presses are 28 kg dumbbells.
89 kg weighted row / long pull

and have fun!


I love sports, I took up judo and football (soccer for americans) in kindergarten, around age 10 I changed to athletics, I runned the 400 and 200 meters, I had to quit during the last year in highschool because I had no time, then I practiced muay thai for almost a year, now because of my slavery-like timetable I can only do enough to keep in shape, I go jogging and swimming as much as I can

I used to judo, it's really awesome, I don't really have time/money for a sport, but medical aid pays for gym so that's ok.

I have started up with the bike again. More than anything I am amazed at how it improves my mental state. The weight loss/muscle gain is nice too.

I run outside, running on a treadmill bores me.
I also play field hockey, speed skating on ice in the winter.

This week or the next I'll start speed skating on asphalt. Asphalt scares me, falling will probably hurt a lot more than on ice...

I do like to play racquetball a few times a week. When I was younger I lifted weights but after a dumbbell/testicle incident I have sworn then off.

I lift things up and put them down on regularly. Actually lost 20 lbs since January (damn the donuts!).

Those saying running on road v. treadmill are 100% correct. Loads different. Treadmills these days are built to absorb shock. When you got your shoes and the 'mill taking the stress off your joints then you try to run a 5K. Surprise! Your joints want to explode and you get a hulluva headache!! Laughing

I used to jog and go mountain biking, but I had to admit I'm a fat bastard now (5'10, 220lbs) and don't ask me to convert to metric, I don't know.

I do try to go for regular walks and I get physicals every year, and except for back and knee problems I am healthy.

well me and the wife do have our own regular "excercises" there I am 100% fit!! Very Happy

Well the incident was tramatic but to be fair I did get a good cardio workout running away from the guy once he could get up off the floor.

Seriously I would love to jog outside but it kills my knees. I was a catcher (baseball save the jokes) when I was a kid and I think my knees are shot from it. Racquetball does not seem to bother me I guess because it's short burst and not sustained strain like jogging.

I used to swim frequently and do a sit-ups and other stretches routine every morning. This helped me get over a nasty herniated disc.
Now I'm having increasing difficulty finding the time and mental energy to get exercise except for lifting groceries, walking, and any people or object lifting that gets involved in my first aid training.
In my youth I managed to run up to 77 minutes nonstop. Also did a lot of swimming.
I signed up with a gym recently but only went there once so far (fortunately I bought tickets and not a monthly subscription).
Not surprisingly, I'm also having trouble keeping my baiting frequency up, often I end up just dropping baits thinking "hell with it, let the lads wonder what happened to me."
I would like to lose 10-15 kilos but I don't expect it to happen quickly, especially since I have a huge appetite.
The fact that I stopped eating meat forever a year and a half ago, amazingly, hasn't helped.

I always subscribed to a quote that is commonly (but erroneously) attributed to Mark Twain: "Every time I feel the urge to exercise, I lie down until it goes away."

While Twain never really said that, he did include this comment in a speech he gave on his 70th birthday, and which was later published:

"I have never taken any exercise, except sleeping and resting, and I never intend to take any. Exercise is loathsome."

I've heard that quote attributed to Robert Maynard Hutchins, the late president of the University of Chicago.

I used to run about four times a week until a stress fracture in my foot, torn knee cartilage, and shin splints ended it. My doctor told me that runners make him wish he had gone into orthopedic surgery -- he maintains only orthopedic surgeons and shoe manufacturers get any true benefit from running.

I now do non-impact aerobics (elliptical, bike). Because of some muscle problems in my shoulders I do weight training for physical therapy but not to bulk up.

I actually used to get pretty bad shin splints, knee ache etc before I started barefoot, I had a heavy outward slant to my feet and allot of impact on my heel. I find barefoot has helped me re-educate my running and walking. I even got a pair of the vibram shoes for every day stuff.

*edit Oh and to those asking about me running outdoors. Someone shot at my neighbor last night, because they said he had purposefully ridden behind them with his brights on, they then followed him home and took three shots at him. So no running outside for me.
