I put a car up for sale a few weeks ago, got an e:mail saying he was in Ireland and would be over at weekend to view, where do I live? (In Scotland), next he can't come, but will have car shipped, will send me cheque to cover purchase and shipping which I have to send via, you've guessed it, Western Union to the shipping company. Despite winding him up, by increasing the price tenfold, he's still interested, then I told him I was on to him, still coming after me. Says cheque is in the post, delay due to his mother being in hospital with breast cancer, boo-hoo. Any other experiences of this?

I would stop contacting him with your real mail address, as the more experienced baiters would say

It's a check overpayment scam. He sends a fake check for more than the amount, you cash it, send back the difference over WU, then get raped in prison when the bank reports you for cashing a fraudulent check. The money appears in your account because by law a bank cannot refuse a check, but it is called "flash money" because it is a book-keeping illusion that lasts until the bank tries to verify it.

Since this guy already has your RL information, don't try to bait him. Instead, post up his emails with headers over at ScamWarners.com so future victims can try to find him.

Also, please post the "shipping company"'s website. Many of these scammers use fake sites, and we have a team of elite sitekillers able to take them down and thus screw up the lad's scam.

I currently have my project supra up for sale and the most
interest I've had was scam artists.
So I thought I would bait them on australiancarsales.com
with a red MR2 for $3000 (car dont actually exist)
I had a few short lived. This was the last one.

after that I realised this one would just be fun to mess with but unfortunately
my housemate who thinks he's a expert at everything, used my account

Just keep writing like that last one was never sent. Half the time they are too stupid to realise you stuffed up. And worst case you might be able to use it for a dolla chop. Cant really make mistakes with these bozos
