Just happened at work and had to share....

One of my colleagues was reviewing a client's data and lamented that his photo was too dark and blurred to show his face.

"He could be anyone, even a terrorist!" he said.

I automatically responded "Send him an antiterrorism form, make sure he fills it correctly and demand a pic with a sign saying 'I AM NO TERRORIST' ".

Everyone was looking at me like this -> Shocked

(yes, I'm a slacker Embarassed

I've noticed I'm trying to get in control in regular emails...
Also I'm gaining a little of "It's not my fault, I've done everything possible to make it, it's your fault it didn't work out" approach.

My baiting life has leaked into my real life quite a few times. Someone asks me to do a job that I really really REALLY do not want to do, but I say yeah okay. And then... delays. Excuses. All benign, but all just to keep putting off the inevitable time when I have to get that task started.

I had to work with a guy for awhile who had been promoted way beyond his level of incompetency. I just started answering all of his emails with the initial phrase of:

Fortunately, he's since been moved sideways, out of the way of any real progress. He never caught on to what I was saying...

On another note, not so long ago I was being harassed by a spammer. The same guy, every time. I traced down his domain, found about 50 others lined up to use for spamming, and sent him a little note:

"Listen kid, you've annoyed me long enough now. One more mail, and you'll regret it."

The mail came.

His domains went.

Never received any of his ads again Very Happy

I was asleep night before last, capering with fairies and unicorns and elves -- the usual -- when a browser window opened and the banner didn't match the site's name. I bolted upright and yelled at the dog (she was next to me) about a template copy -- she looked at me as if to say, "WTF?"

I think it hideous that these fraudstars intrude in my dreams. My dog would like an apology.

Five years on, I still look at forms closely to see if they've been rigged up in Photoshop, and occasionally mentally calculate how I could forge them myself.

It's depressingly easy.

There is a show at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC featuring work by African artists. One incredible piece is a tapestry made from over a hundred thousand beads that were rolled up from small scraps of leftover Obama campaign fliers. The artist, who lives in the states, organized the production of the piece entirely via email.

My first thought? Amazing trophy.
