I screwed my shoulder lifting one end of a heavy toolbox, so badly I couldnt sleep on that side for a long time. What made it worse was spending hours a day using a mouse with a short lead.

My useless doctor just suggested a life on painkillers. Stuff that, they make me prone to throwing up after more than a pint of beer. Eventually I was sorted out by going to an Osteopath, as recommended by a stoner window cleaner I Know (of course), and moving my mouse to the left side of my desk, which took some getting used to.

I got a bad shoulder too, dislocates numerous times a day. I had a skiing accident when I was 15, broke some bone in my shoulder, caused a domino effect so now my shoulder keeps dislocating... I should be taking pain killers too, and very strong ones, but I refuse, rather live in pain than to be high & slow all the time Wink

Another one with odd shoulders. Ever since I was young (long ago & far away..) I've been able to extend the length of my arms by an inch or so. Few years ago it started to get painful so off the the doc I went. He sent me to see an Orthopedic consultant who diagnosed this. Physiotherapy helped - doesn't hurt anymore, but I can still turn my arm round through 180 degrees. One advantage - there isn't any part of my back that I can't scratch Very Happy

One of the patients in the hospital where I had been a volunteer was in traction for weeks -- back and a problematic leg.

I asked the nurse what happened; she did not want to answer at first.

Seems like there was a problem with him falling out of bed doing certain activities with his "girlfriend" and his wife was NOT amused!

Thank you everyone. So far I have had a cortisone epidural in my back. Doc says that it may a few days for the effects to kick in. And likely will have at least two more in the next several weeks.

I am being careful with the pain meds. They work about 60% of the time and definetly don't want to get addicted. I am hoping that physical therapy will help too. (and that I have the time to do physical therapy)

This happen to me and I was in pain for about a year. Became friends with a PT and he said get in the floor soon as you rise and do 20 scrunches. Hold each for 10 seconds and do this 3 times a day. It is very important to do it as soon as you rise because your body has been still and needs to get ready for the day. At nite it needs to get ready for the lay down and we need to prepare for it. After a week I started feeling better and did this for months and eventually slacked off to once a day in the morn. If I miss a few, that pain comes back. Now, do this dude! Wink

Sorry to hear about the back BF. I used to have trouble from time to time and found the only thing that worked for me, was osteopathy. I went to a good school where I was seen by final year (supervised) students. Check to see if there is a school near you and give it a try. They are usually about half the cost of qualified practitioners and very thorough. I haven't needed to go for over ten years since I was sorted.

And I thought I had troubles with the pain from Peripheral Neuropathy. Back troubles are worse Crying or Very sad

@Windypops, by "osteopathy" do you mean chiropractors? Just asking. I was seeing one every few weeks before I busted my shoulder in December, and conjecture is that if I hadn't, I'd have broken more than my shoulder when I tripped over my cat. Yes, the cat is fine. Mad

An Osteopath (Doctor of Osteopathic medicine, DO) is different than a Chiropractor (Doctor of Chiropractic, DC). The do consider more than a typical MD does in treatment and does do manipulations.

Said cat (Gidget) wishes to inform you that it was the human's fault. One should not run down the hallway half asleep to catch the phone before it goes to voicemail, and when encountered by cat fur about the ankles, should also not try a quarterback tackle with the ground looming. (Pulling arms in, holding one, and hitting the ground with ones shoulder.) The idiocy of the act became apparent immediately. Gidget meowed me back to reality, and the dog didn't even notice. Ha!
