Jan. 1, 1970.... The Kent State shootings were still 4 months off, and my campus had not yet erupted into violence, arson, and occupation by the National Guard. I hadn't yet been called in by the FBI for investigation of the burning of the Student Union building (I was innocent, by the way), and I still had 5 months left before having to face my draft board and lose my student deferment.

I would NOT like to return to that particular New Year's Day.................

Just getting permit to drive. With the price of gas I think I WILL buy several cars. A 1969 Camaro, a 1970 Corvette, a 1969 Mustang Boss or Shelby, maybe both.

I will also invest in building Cell Phone towers as it would be a good investment. Oh and that house I put an offer in on in 5 years. Yup, I'll buy that too this time.

Still wish I had gone to Woodstock instead of spending all last summer in the hospital.

Vacuum tubes: no. Transistors were already in use in radios and TV, with very few exceptions.

Hmmmmmmm, can't remember exactly what I was doing on 1 Jan 1970, probably still wondering, as 2 year olds are wont to do, when my younger brother, born 2 weeks earlier, was gonna be collected by the stork Twisted Evil

I actually remember the day my mum came home from hospital with him, so that must be one of my earliest memories.

Met them at a radio station promo as they were a local group, before they were famous.

!970 was the year I went yellow with jaundice, infectious hepatitis is not nice at all, I was off school for ages
But I was lucky compared to those who were caught up in the serum hepatitis outbreak at the renal transplant unit, several patients, 2 medical staff and 2 lab staff died.

Then a few years later we had the miners strikes, power cuts, toilet roll and sugar shortages.
