A great musician and composer who was not afraid to push the boundaries - listen to that deep analog synthesiser bass line on the Persuaders signature tune - way ahead of its time. A true creative genius.
OK he came from Yorkshire... nobody is perfect!

Watching the news last night I was reminded of how good the theme to 'You Only Live Twice' was. Robbie Williams thought so too, when he nicked it for 'Millenium'.

Two of my earliest film memories, were going to see Born Free and The Italian job. He didn't write the score for the second film but Matt Monro sung the title for that as well, which has always linked the two films in my mind. |
