How much do you think it would cost a lad from Nigeria to call to the States for an hour and seven minutes? Seems she (she claims she's a she, but he sounds like a he), didn't hang up the phone properly after she left me a message.

So I've got an hour and seven minutes of mainly silence after the call, but occasional stuff of them talking and stuff. I didn't listen to the whole thing to even find out how they realized it, but I figure an hour and seven minutes has to really hurt her pocketbook.

At first I thought Skye was wrong with the time and it surely it must be 1 minute 7 seconds, but nope, it was 1 hours, 7 minutes, and 18 seconds.

That's amazing.

I have no idea how much it cost them. From the West Africa 101 thread on Eater U, a good estimate is $2USD/minute. Yet looking on some phone card sites it seems like one could call the US for much less.

Have you tried searching the number to see what provider it is? It sounds like they called from a landline, in which case you should be able to find more reliable information on rates.

Hi Dwatina, if they were using a VOIP system, the price will be under a dollar, if they were on a mobile from Nigeria without a calling card - oh deep joy!!!

how was the call stopped? did he see his mistake or did he run out of money?

^^I finally played the whole thing and listened. It was VERY boring...9/10ths of it was silence, except for the occasional chatter in the background.

At the end there was shouting and yelling, but I could not understand it. I understood a few of the swear words, but there was a lot of shouting and yelling. She may indeed be a she, as the guy yelling the most was a he!
