got a text today warning about "line check" calls where you are asked to press #90 or #09, hang up as the caller has a device which allows them to make calls at your expense. Don't know if it is real or not but the warning came from an M.P.

I have heard of this before.... But have always believed that the IMEI is just as important as your phone number. Meaning that if the IMEI does not match with the sim card its registered with, you wont be able to make calls. This is how phone companys can block mobiles.... I'm no expert but i cannot see how a 'device' can do such a thing. Shocked

It's an old hoax, as far as cell phones and home phones are concerned. But is may be true with a business switchboard when dialling 9 gives you an outside line.
