The "Australia Day Black Tie Gala" @ New York held on 28th January! Aussie day is the 26th, that is like celebrating the 4th July on the 6th, i mean to say, we are almost sober by then!

The worst thing coming out of this is many reports of looting. That is seriously bad form, and not in the Aussie Spirit of things. But alas, it is happening.

/\/\ Predictable of the media to make a big deal of it, like the arson claims every time there are forest fires.

I remember after Katrina, Fox News getting their pants in a wad over looters, and suggesting they should all be shot on sight by the Army. It turned out people were taking food and water for themselves as an alternative to dying, as they werent getting any other help.

^^^^ True about some Katrina looters, there are pictures and evidence of other looters around NOLA who were taking electronics and other high end items which were not needed for sustenance.

Here's some f##ing blood-boiling stuff. A 'heavily accented man' is calling people claiming he's from the Aust Taxation Office (our version of the IRS) and asking for donations. A phone number has been published publicly for this scammer.

Would it be cool for me to pass it on these forums, in the context of the article, so that some of us aussie baiters can get onto some creative time-wasting until they are caught.

Hope this link works for you. I found this amazing. My daughter lives at Westlake which is by Jindalee and they were cut off by water at either end of her road and her work place at West End was flooded on the ground floor.

My heart surely goes out to y'all. I went through flooding in Katrina and then there was horrid flooding in Nashville TN last year, the latter of which was not even visited by the current WH resident.
