Tonight's extended news reporting on free-to-air TV was four hours of coverage on this natural tragedy. Doesn't affect all of Oz, (and not me), but it's still very bad shit. Many displaced people due to this "Act of God"

As usual, we Aussies generally help each other out, and millions have already donated to the relief funds. For example the Queensland State Governmunt donate fund has already exceeded $32 million AUD (which is about $35 million USD, what with the Aussie dollar being stronger)

No, a lot of people aren't ok. Queensland and other parts of Australia are currently suffering the worse flood in recorded history. The flood affected area covers areas the size of Germany and France combined.

Yesterday, a wall of water, what they are calling an inland Tsunami, hit towns and farmland washing it all away. Without warning an inland wave washed cars off highways and roads.

Type Toowoomba Floods - Queensland Floods - Brisbane Floods into google or youtube and you'll see it all.

Yesterday, I headed to Brissy. I was standing in my friends living room with the water upto my chest. I also stood on a black snake which luckily slide away rather than bite me. The flooded rivers are sending out deadly snakes into homes and streets. We have seven of the top ten worlds deadliest snakes... Yippeeeeeeee

19700 homes will go under water within the next 24 hours. It's a massive disaster on a scale we've never seen.

Keep safe. I know about flooding and snakes in the water. We went through Hurricane Katrina and we had flooding chest high on our property.

Later we had to deal with the 2-legged snakes also known as FEMA

My town has been isolated for 3 days now.
As a local I just view it as a fresh in the river as it only got to 19 meters (62 feet). I couldn't even be bothered having a look at it, as I've seen that many. I'll go and check it out when it gets over 21 meters, other than that it's just boring. It starts going into shops at 15 meters, so sightsee'ers just get in the way of people trying to move their gear.
The land under flood water in queensland (1 state of Australia) is larger than the UK.
But it'll only be a disaster if the beer runs out.

But seriously, this is a major natural disaster for Australia, with the death toll rising again today, as well as the count of 'official' missing people.

Families interstate are trying to call the evacuation centres only to find their folks aren't registered anywhere.

Something like 30million dollars (USD=AUD +/-) has already been donated from the pockets of Aussies nationwide to help fund the emergency costs, and the rebuilding of lives when the "Inland Tsunami" precipitation finally subsides.

For Baiters, it could be a goldmine of an opportunity. Wink

A lot of towns here in Oz are under water
right up to the top and over the roof of most houses
its a damn disaster .

Almost all of the east coat of Oz has been effected by floods or
persistent heavy rain for months.

As I write this the rain is pouring down 3 inches in last 18 hours
and more on the way.

Snakes in the water are becoming a big problem

And bush fires in Western Oz
