This scam started out as a romance scam [she thought I was a man, lol] she finally got that I wasnt so she changed it from my love, to my dear sister [the first 2 emails from "her" are posted in the love/romance scam area but since this isnt I figred I should continue posting here instead.] anyway I am totally new to baiting but I get tons of scam mail and so I want to have fun with these scammers [fun for me not fur them lol] and keep their attention on me and not someone else who would fall for their crap [I've never been scammed thankfully I've just always ignored the letters]
so anyway, any ideas on how I should respond?

Hi Krystal_Queen and welcome to Eater and baiting!

First up, did you get yourself a handy-dandy mentor? They are free and usually very helpful for someone new to baiting. You can sign up for one here: http://forum.419eater.com/forum/cherrie_mentor_program.php

Sounds like your lad is still pretty well on script, so it doesn't much matter what you write back for a while. Just short emails, asking one or two questions -- How are they doing? What is it like in the camp? You have heard such horrible things about Sierra Leone (or whatever they are at) and you are concerned about her safety, etc. etc.

I usually don't write to their 'pastor' or 'bank' until they really seem upset, or I just tell them to have their 'pastor/bank/whatever' contact me directly. Or I might even (gasp!) lie and saying I have contacted them (when I haven't) and they aren't emailing me back -- is she sure they are so trustworthy?

Baiting is all about delay. Delay, delay, delay. Never rush to the payment stage and just talk about everything else or act as if you really want to help them, but you have to wait until payday, you have paid for your dog's emergency surgery (start talking about your incredible dog to set up his emergency surgery), etc.

Ask more about this fund and what she is going to do with the money? Does she want to come visit you? Will you have to redo your guest room to accommodate her?

Mind you it might be fun baiting as a unicorn. I think Crystal Wishingstar might make a good name and I can tell the lad all about my strange health problems ("every time I hiccup rainbows appear. do you think that's normal?") and my fondness for lying down in the laps of virgins.
