Been getting a few lately where they refer to me as "daddy". Anyone else getting these? Why do they address a total stranger as their father? |

I had a romance lad who I wrote to for over 18 months, by which time he totally trusted my character, and would answer questions on any subject. And I asked him about scam mails and told him I answered one and then the scammer called me 'mother', and I asked him why....
He said that in West African culture, if a person accepts the title of mother or daddy or auntie or uncle, then they also accept responsibility for the person who calls them that: they accept that they will act like a mother/father/aunt/uncle towards them .... and this includes supporting them financially, as far as they are able.
In baiting, therefore, it is advisable to happily accept being 'daddy'. If the lad is West African, he will probably assume that his cultural background is universal, and your acceptance of being daddy means that you are agreeing to financially care for him. And so he is more likely to have trust in you. So embrace it! Sign your emails as 'daddy'. Let him think that you are going to financially look after him ... it will help him to stay around and keep on writing to you. |

Another response is when they call you daddy, response “who’s your”.
A while ago we had a baiter who would do this and I don’t remember if the mugu ever caught on. |

I find that "daddy" stuff creepy, especially after only one Email. I always thought it was just so they wouldn't have to bother c+p your name in their format. Same reason you are called "brother" or "my dear". Or just "Attn:" 
I don't care the reason. It is creepy. There are only two people in the world that are allowed to call me daddy and that's because I am. |

I can understand the possible cultural aspect , but to address someone as "daddy" in the initial email?? How do they know that they are emailing a man? Or how old they are? |

Some lads use automatic translators and end up with mixed-up gender references.
I'm tempted (since I have one Greek character, and soon will have another) to have them sign forms that are part English and part Greek, but with the Greek part actually meaning "I admit that I am a scammer and a piece of rubbish who deserves only to burn in hell" or similar stuff. |
