Amita, I replied to your other post in the FB forum, but let me say again, please go over to ScamWarners and post up your story -- there are experienced scamwarners and advisors over there to assist you and you will help warn others from getting scammed.
If you want to learn how to bait, I would highly recommend you read all the stickies in the forums, and sign up for a mentor who will help you learn what you need to know to get started.
Mentors here: http://forum.419eater.com/forum/cherrie_mentor_program.php
Again, I am so sorry about you being scammed. And you aren't stupid -- many very smart and trusting people get scammed! You aren't alone! Go to ScamWarners and help prevent someone else from being scammed by the same awful scammers. |

Welcome Amita,
It sounds as if your suspicions will prove to be correct. I'm sorry to hear that.
There are a few things you can do. They won't get your money back, but they will help to keep the scammer from getting money from others.
First of all, as Dora suggested, post the information at scamwarners. Post the scammer's name, email, phone numbers, photos he used, and some of the emails he and any others involved in this scam sent you. If possible, include the headers from some of those eamils. Just make sure you remove your own name and email address first. Posting his name will help others he is scamming at the same time--as scammers don't limit themselves to a single victim. Posting his emails to you will help other potential victims too, as many scammers continue to send the same emails even after they change identities. Over at SW, we can also help you to identify some of the signs that are not apparent when you are not familiar with scammers.
Second, after you do that, you can post a request here for some baiters to give him special attention. We do need proof that the person is a scammer, but you can point to the evidence at scamwarners if you have posted it there.
Third, if you would like to learn how to bait, read a bit here--there's lots to read in eater U--and apply for a mentor. Please understand that we do not recommend baiting the person who scammed you, as doing so can make it harder for you to recover emotionally from being scammed. |

And as Dora said, being victim to a romance scammer isn't being stupid. These assholes prey on your emotions. B4 I joined eater, I would have been the perfect candidate myself (If I actually HAD any money)
And they target you everywhere they can. I've had them on Yahoo (where they practically run the chat rooms nowadays), on facebook, even on Bongal (and that's still quite new).
I've had them on several datings sites, to the point where I've closed down most of those accounts.
At least you know better now, unlike any potential lad you'll meet later on |

Sorry to read your news Amita, but don't be hard on yourself - many scammers are extremely skilled at wresting money from unsuspecting and trusting people such as yourself.
Let an experienced baiter have a go at your lad and that way you can sit back and enjoy their pain from a safe distance.
Then, when you're ready, pick your own to frustrate and torment.
Love Phil X |
