I'll never understand what would posses someone to go kayaking in the same water with "three-tonne hippos that will bite you in half".

I have actually been in the (close) vicinity with these beasts including going on a boat in a shallow lag to look at them. When i saw them they where quite placid. Then again i didn't go around poking them either.
If i remember right hippos are the most dangerous animal in Africa killing a lot of people every year. |

How about starting up a tourist company (an adjunct to Simba) that offers kyaking and white water rafting of this river? You need experienced kyakers and rafters to lead the activities. You already operate a similar and very sucessful operation on the zambezi river. |

Hippos kill more people each year than lions, tigers, crocodiles, and snakes. Oh my.
Steve Irwin said that the only animal that he absolutely feared was the hippo. They are fiercely territorial and absolutely evil. They can swallow a four-year-old whole. They also mark their territory by means of explosive diarrhea.
I suspect that even a lad willing to dry-hump a croc will drop anyone who tries getting him near a hippo.
But if you can manage it, I will personally send you a sixteen hour dvd compilation of the Badger Dance.
Edit: This says hippos can run at 18mph. The average human can run about 10mph. The math is not good for anyone being chased by a shit-spewing gape-jawed be-tutu'd monster. |
