On Friday night I watched a semi-final high school football game here in the city where I live... In this one single game, a number of all-time state records were set for high school football in my state:

- Most personal fouls for unsportsman-like conduct (all on one of the teams - and the unsportsman-like conduct was very flagrant;

- Most players ejected from the game (all from one team);

- Most cheerleaders hurt in a game (all cheerleaders from the "good' team,, after a flagrant out-of-bounds hit by the bad team sent cheerleaders flying like bowling pins after a strike)

-- Most arrests by the police on the field during a game....

-- Most people tasered by the police on the field during a game...

--- Most police with nightsticks required to escort the referees to their cars after a game .....

[I will leave you to use your imagination to fill in the details of these last three items]

Needless to say, it was a wild night.

Certainly sounds like a football game at a couple of the Detroit high schools in the area I grew up in. Wink

Ah, they are just in training for when they win a Pro Bowl game and tear their city apart.

The "good" team won 56-28, and advanced to the championships (tonight). The "bad" team had so many yards in penalties for their conduct that it basically wiped out their offense for the game...As for a video, I know that there are films and I will see what I can find -- the only one that I know of posted so far is a 30 second highlights clip from the local news that says nothing about the problems and shows nothing of interest.

That's one of the reasons I don't play High School Football in America. That, and the fact that I'm neither in High School nor in America...

Usually, MoP, the fans are rather reserved - they cheer for their teams, but don't do anything to cause problems - , and the players are usually under control, too.....just not this one game, in regard to this one team.
