I have a "girl" who lost her purse while heading back to the airport to come back from Nigeria.

Is it considered poor form to suggest that she turn tricks to get the cab fare to the embassy

and even though I am by no means a racist - is it ok to use racial slurs about the god forsaken African continent and its indigenous people

419eater treats racist language very strictly. Users have been banned for it before.

That said, why would you need to resort to race in order to insult a lad? You can call his government a corrupt cesspit of vipers and scoundrels swimming in the filth of their own greed, call his economy a joke that continues to fail every standard of sane business practices, etc. You can be plenty insulting without bringing in race at all. It's safe, more accurate by any measure, and the lad really can't help but agree. You'll see how often lads themselves decry the corruption and economic decay of their countries, the vast hordes of scammers and thieves, etc.

Why would you use racial slurs as part of the bait? In the long run it will ruin the bait, in my opinion. Try subtly, it works better.

Ask where is the capitol of Africa, cause you want to meet them there. When they say Africa is a continent with different countries argue. Ask how many speak African? Also show concern over Elephant stampedes.

It worked for one my characters because his ancestors did very disgusting things to Africa, so he thinks he’s an expert on Africa.

The above works with African mugus who claim to be somewhere else, and it has to be done subtly and slowly.

With all due respect that statement itself strikes me as pretty racist and offensive to me. You are lumping all of Africa's indigenous people together. It is an awful big continet and I promise you there are plenty of good people there making honest livings.

I am hoping the quote was a poor choice of words in an attempt at sarcasm. Part of the reason for me baiting is for the honest people in African countries. The vast majority are honest. But the scammers in their own way reinforce negative Stereotypes with every email they send. .

It was brainstorming and checking the absolute limits. I did suggest she turn tricks to get back but did not go the other direction. It was more of a pre-question as her persona is of a little white girl who is now stuck in Nigeria and needs help.

Thanks to all for the input - and I love the stampede idea that is classic.

Maybe even ask if they have running water or indoor toilets.

The absolute limits are your own, of course, but to have the support of members here it is important to remember the scammers are our enemies, not the whole continent. In my opinion, Africa had plenty of internal problems, but some countries bring extra external problems on themselves by being so outwardly corrupt. It's those corrupt people in the countries in which they operate we have a beef with, not the majority of decent folks.

But also remember we see plenty of scams out of Russia and the Philippines too, so it covers all races.
