I've been to the UK in 1990, 1993, and 1997. I survived.

Ate at a chinese restaraunt in Inverness. The waiter was shocked when I asked for chopsticks!! Laughing

I take it Mr S didn't bother with the veggies in the end. But id does look good even though i'd substitute the mushrooms with something else. Perhaps sun dried tomatoes and pesto.

Mmmm rag puddings! My granny used to make those. Wonderful stuff

The meat pies in particular should be eaten straight from the microwave - they're full of juice. When you bite into them, the scalding gravy runs down your chin & straight onto the front of the shirt.

Incidentally, eldest daughter's distraught - she's recently moved & she's just discovered that she's crossed the border from our green & pleasant (OK, white & bloody freezing) land & become a Pie-Eater:

Yeah, food is so dreadful in the UK, I don't know how we cope.

Of course, there are FOUR Michelin 3* restaurants just in the South East of the UK, and 6 in the whole USA in 2010, so I don't think that's really all so terrible, is it?
