I have been baiting a lottery lad for some weeks now. He has been chopped and then insulted by another of my characters. The lads idea of revenge is to send out a mass email spoofing the email address of the chopper and putting his own email address in the body of the email for people to reply to. Seems bizarre as to why he'd do this unless he thinks he is going to jam up my inbox (?) but I have been getting some responses as if I was the lottery organiser.

Obviously, I've no idea how many emails were sent using my name but so far I've received 5 responses:-

1 x negative response telling me to f* off - or words to that effect.
1 x negative response from a sceptic - "second one today".
1 x negative response "thank you but not interested"
2 x positive responses - both from overseas. I'm not sure but one of them may be a baiter.

As I say, totally unsolicited by myself and not statistically significant. However, I'm quite heartened that the negative responses outweigh the positives but it also suggests foreigners are more prone to this scam than native English speakers.

I remember that I had this situation once, too. A real lad spoofing my fake-lads email addy as the sender (not the reply-to) addy of his scam-scum. In the same time I was also without my consent enlisted in a lot of newsletters I didnt like. So I guess it was the same lad, who actually wanted to have his little revenge with me. Probably this would have been a good revenge to a real lad, because am e-mail addy used to send out massive spam will soon be burned (e.g. blacklisted by spamfilters, closed due to abuse-reports). Too bad, if this happens to the secondary box of a lad with all his hooked victims in it.

What I did back then:

1) I took a deep, liberating, laugh Laughing

2) I took pride in myself to have made this lad so angry Cool

3) I had a nice conversation from my fake lad to the real lad about this (mostly pidgin insults)
4) I ignored all negative responces in my inbox to his spam
5) I told those those two words positive responces in my inbox to his spam (baiters, sceptical real people, wannebe selmade baiters) that there was a bad guy out there (real lads name) or I ignored their mails.

I never reeceived a letter that would have given me doubt, whether or not this could be a real victim. If in doubt, I would have my fake-lad behave like a recovery-scammer (this would alert those victims who never heard about it) plus I'd add some silly stuff (so nobody but a lad could take it serious). This way I can be supporting towards real victims, obvious towards baiters and sitill like a real fake-lad towards my lad.

Thanks for the email and the advice. Fortunately it is the little used chopper account he has gone for - I don't think the text I copied and sent him from the 'No effort and some great rants!' ( http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=194078 ) improved his mood too much!

In fact I've employed a bit of reverse psychology. I've written to 'My bruda' begging him not to do it again as it it is impacting my other scams. Hopefully he'll continue doing it just to annoy me. Better the scam responses come back to me than him is my reasoning.

I have already implemented suggestions 1,2,4,5. I'm going to give him a phone call (suggestion 3) - something I don't usually do and have that 'nice conversation'

with 3) I meant an e-mail conversation, but calling lads is fun, too. I once called a real lad while I was imposting a fake lad. My accent is not very African to say the least Sad

but my english was so poor, he took me for a *very* dumb guy Cool

Just another idea that works great (allthough it burns good baits sometimes, but I guess you are only after some nice rants here): Give him the number of another lad and tell him to call you there. Say: "Dis is di numba of mi broda [real lads name de plume] ,pls call him and ask for [your fake lads name]". I had funny results of the lad complaining abaout me not beeing there and lad no. 2 being very annoyed from the constant calling Wink

Let the lads rant to each other and annoy themselves without your efforts Cool

Of course you can tell lad no. 2 to expect calls (or after the calls took place, you can tell him "I called you, but you insulted me"). *)
