I'm having all sorts of problems with my current ISP. It is a wifi antenna to tower system. Now I'm on dialup.
I'm thinking about getting a satellite connection such as Hughes or Wild Blue. I understand they are a bit slow & often shut down due to weather, but we live out in the country and that may be my only choice. None of the common ISPs are available like AT&T, Verizon, Clear Wire, etc.
Any suggestions please. |

We had satellite connection for a while in one location where we lived. Five drops of rain and we would lose connection.
I have had good luck with a Verizon Air Card even in areas where service was spotty. Only problem it is about $59/mo. |

Morgain, can the Verizon Air Card be used on a desktop pc? I've been trying to get some info about it. I'll call them on Monday. |

@ A Skinner. Yes, an air card can be used on a desktop. I used it on my desktop for over 3 years.
My contract with Verizon for the air card expires in December, but I understand they have a deal at Verizon where you can use it for a daily fee, or something less than the monthly fee. I am going to look into that as I now have cable for our internet/tv connection but like the air card when I travel as it is more secure IMHO than using a local WiFi.
Another nice thing about an air card is when you click on HOME on http://www.iptrackeronline.com/ doesn't show your actual location. During Thanksgiving holidays each day I logged on with the Air Card it showed me in a different city and sometimes just showed "n/a, n/a United States" |
