I writing to a ladette's barr, and need some help with the correct spelling of word that I have forgot.
My character is a bit of a louche (no problem spelling that)  but there is another word I want to use that phonetically is something like this:
ru-ai or rue-ay
The word means to be a dissipated individual and corrupter of young ladies (ruinous) . A bit like the sort of person Maurice Chevalier would play in his films. I want to let the barr know, his ward will be quite safe in my care.  I think it is accented but can't remember how to spell it or find the correct spelling anywhere.

rusé -- means to be sly or cunning, but not exactly in the context that you provided.
I've heard of the term "tombeur" to refer to a guy who is a real playboy/seducer type. "Tomber" is the verb to fall, so it literally is someone who makes (ladies) fall (for him).
I will keep thinking about this, but maybe a native French person will have better luck.
EDIT: Got it: roué -- a debauched or lecherous man; rake

Thanks eveyone. I'm sure I tried that variation but got no returns??? 
@Mr Tman, Though French is spoken by some lads, I think roué is quite old and not much used these days. I want my lad to think that an 80 year old, louche roué, is just the sort of person who can take good care of an orphan. So you could argue that is de-education enough.

If you want to get the lad de-educated try spelling it "roux" (like the chef).
In that spelling its the base for a bechamel sauce  |
