Remember, when you connect, the lad is paying from then on. They can't get rid of you quick enough.

@MBL, I was calling Australia for 0.4 pence per minute but they have gone up lately to 1ppm.

I was in Tesco yesterday, and picked up one of their International Calling Cards

But I put it down again. I have an unregistered Tesco sim card I use for taking calls from lads. The sim had a couple of quid on it but ran out years ago.

I see from the site it's 6p/min to call Nigeria. I might buy one if members think that is a reasonable rate.

I've used Google Voice. They charge about $0.20/minute to call Nigeria.

I don't think you really need to worry too much about the calling plan with any major VOIP service, actually. Whichever service you do use, a ten bucks top-up of credit will still go a hell of a long way. And when you're trying to get the lad to call you back and waste his $2-$5/min, those ten bucks worth of outgoing calls is definitely going to stretch out a bit.

Ideally, each of your outgoing calls would last a minute or two of you screaming "HELLO?" and each of your incoming calls would last much, much longer.

Each bait is different. However I always find:-

1. If you are confident to phone bait then it is better if the lad phones you. Always get the lad to phone you on your 'don't care' phone. Especially true for straight baiting where they often waste hours of time phoning about progress of the money transfer etc.
2. If you do phone them and you are lucky enough to live in a 'good' time zone compared to West Africa, call them at 3AM (GMT) a few times. They always appreciate an early morning call.
3. If you do phone them make sure they can see the 'don't care' phone number or at least know the 'don't care' phone number via email. You'll find if you hang up a short way in to the conversation they are more than eager to phone back, especially if you are at that important part of the conversation, such as giving the MTCN number.
