Newbie here...

Trying to attract my first 'lad' but not having much joy.

I've been to the surplus section and responded to about 2o of those available over the past few days, but no takers so far.

Is there a secret?

It may be that you're being too forward in your email to the scammers. All you need to do is sound cautiously interested - they know they need to sell whatever scheme it is to the victim, so play like a real victim and answer (in your own words) "I'm interested, tell me more..."

That'll get them all over you like seagulls on a bag of chips.

My responses have varied depending on what scam I have replied to.

To give myself a chance I replied to several including 'dating', '419', 'house rental', 'lottery'

My basic response has been something like:

'Thank you for your e mail, I may be interested in your proposition but would need more information'

Or for the dating ones I have said:

'Hi, Thanks for your e mail, I'm always looking to make new friends, I look forward to hearing from you.

Should I try something different?

Those are both good responses. You my friend may just be running into bad luck. I will pm you a few fresh ones from catcher if you like.

I always come across as so mega-cautious calling them liars and asking for ID etc even before they start but always 'come around' when they send stuff. In that way you get the best quotes they use for excuses and make them work for everything you give them. You might lose a few this way but the ones you get will be keepers.
Always make excuses why you can't talk on the phone e.g my character unfortunately has inoperable throat cancer.
Being vulnerable is also a moth to a flame, if they think they have a chance they will peruse you to hell to get something.
Also you can put over that you have been scammed before. They think once a victim always a victim.
It's like a points system, they always try to exploit the weakest,vulnerable, greediest, meekest and generous. So if you can be all of these then you'll be a prime target.
If they peruse a religious angle, then follow that up and become mega- religious, they expect you to put your trust in a religious person, so inadvertently they do so themselves.

Use the craigs list bait i posted.

Tell them you are sorry that the other item had been sold already but you also have a chair for sale and would they be interested. You really need to get rid of it so you are willing to ship it anywhere if they pay.

They will respond. Then follow their lead and do your thing.

I may add that a major baiter skill is patience! Especially on a friday - We are moving into the weekend silence to be followed the Monday-Tuesday rush hour.

I've got a feeling that most lads get hammered Friday-Saturday and sleep it off during Sunday Confused

So wait until after the weekend, that's where things happen Wink

Could just be down to lad laziness. If they are already busy on a job or two, it can take them a while to get around to new magas.

Lads are not big on multitasking. Wink

Not sure whether I can manage two for my very first attempt so unless anyone has a good reason not to, I think I'll go for the 'help the poor' one. Pastor Frederick sounds like an honest gentleman.

He's replied but not asked for anything... Do I just write back asking how I may be of assistance?

Only thing of note is on the good Pastor. Make sure it is not a begging format. If he is just asking for money and not offering you anything but warm an fuzzy feelings it is probably a begger not baitable.

Looks like a begger to me. He is asking you to donate stuff and that's all there is to it. He is probably lying and yes probably a scumbag but not really breaking the law. I would Drop this one.

I will send you a pm of a couple goodies just so you get off to a good start.

EDIT: It would be the spamfilters. It has taken several lad-mail from me, and I don't know if the mail I send, where I pretend to be a lad to the lads end there.
