Nope.

Just something right sized like mommy grizzly said.

Not too big.
Not too small.

Just right.

More than the very short intro you see first.
Lot less than the university.

Something in between.

Don't expect me to go from ABC to reading rocket science.

Ease me in with a grammar school version, then the HS view, finally the college text. Then point me to the graduate seminar.

No need to find them fast, baiting is best done slowly. There is absolutely no reason to hurry anything, dragging it out is what we do.

Thank you for taking the time to punctuate and capitalise in your posts now, it makes them much more readable!

I can see what you're getting at, how you'd love one of us to sit down and make a differently-collected set of information. It's not a bad idea in itself, but none of us are likely to do so. You've heard from several people why they feel it is redundant (after all, by virtue of being here, we all managed to find what we needed here on the forums), but perhaps you would like to compile one as you're in that position at the moment? Do a good job and it may help others, but I can't see anyone here taking time out of baiting to document something they feel is already documented pretty well!

So, ball's back in your court - will you be the one to do it? Smile

In all honesty, I think the majority your posts, deviate from a well established foundation of kind-hearted people who's goal is to waste time of ingrates, not to bicker to & fro about siggy lines and such. The word "troll" comes to mind...

edskar, I strongly urge you to start out learning to straight-bait effectively. There is excellent information on how to straight-bait here, here, and here.

Then grab a few lads and apply what you learned from reading the above by trying your hand at some real baiting. After all, experience is the best teacher.

Consider learning to straight-bait as "grammar school". While you are honing your straight-baiting skills, read the stickies on the various forums, read topics of interest to you in Eater U, and follow the discussions on the forums.

I am confident that if you follow this plan, within a month or two you will have a much better sense of what goes on here and why it is very difficult to structure baiting information into a neat hierarchy. You will also find the members here welcoming and friendly to rookies and veterans alike.

@MindSeraph - What took you so long? Saying "welcome to eater" seems almost inappropriate. Very Happy

MindSeraph has set a great, but extreme example, of joining Eater, presumably reading up around the site, and then posting.
I wanted to see if I was remembering correctly, so I just looked up my first post. Joined August 10, 2009, first post-September 30, 2009. I read and read and read and then I read some more!
I didn't look up when, but I recall it being quite a while before I felt comfortable enough to actually start a topic.
Everyone has always graciously answered my questions and I've seen many new members join and experience the same. The key is to learn as much as you can through reading before you start asking a bunch of questions.
As MindSeraph has pointed out-we direct our energy towards messing around with scammers. Would you like to join us?

I see here that someone , on his own, did a write up.
Pretty good IMHO. Some folks added suggestions for additions or modifications.

But several people gave him big bunches of great grief because they didn't agree with him.

I get enough flak jsut for asking questions.

I don't need that **** , especially when there is no official source that defines anything in the baiter world.

There will be differences of opinions betweendifferent BBS users , and even within a given BBS not all folks will agree on a usage or other factoid.

Baiting is not an exact science.
Every lad is different, many many formats are different, so every bait is different. The possibilities are endless. You can start several baits in a similar way but will end up doing all different baits along the process.
The only thing you really need is enough imagination.

There are things you can't learn up front. You have to learn them by actually doing it, discussing it along the way, and not be afraid some baits will get lost or will not work out. When that happens, you just grab the next one. There will, unfortunately, always be more baiting opportunities than actual baits, with the number of lads out there !

So get on with it, start compiling and stop whining. I don't want to read another single word from you about this guide until you have finished it and presented it to the community.

You kinda answered your own question, it's a huge and thankless task that nobody wants or needs to do. And if you also rejected the idea, well you kind of get the point.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you do - but I suggest you start by getting started and just start playing some scammers along, and see whedre your bait ends up going!

If you read the post carefully you would see that I was not looking for that.

That was the reason that I was not going to write up anything as someone had suggested for me to do .

Because of what many of you all did to the last guy who tried it. Lots of folks came out of the woodwork to tell him why it was wrong.

My point is that his description was as good as anybody elses because there is no standard.

Come on, man. He may be abrasive, but all he really wants is to inflict pain on some lads. For all we know, he could end up specializing in badge trophies. I said "bloodlust" for a reason. You obviously really want some vengeance. I suspect either you or someone you know has been scammed, and not just your discovery that your Craigslist ad was responded to by scammers. Why not write about it? You'll give everyone a very strong incentive to plunge the knife in harder. Believe me, there are people here who will hound the scoundrels for you to exact your vengeance. Note that ScamWarners specializes in finding and alerting the victims of scams. Why not specialize in baits wherein you gain victim information to pass on to them? It may not be as satisfying at first, but you will definitely do damage to the lads by depriving them of their (likely already defrauded) victims.
