I really like the idea of doing an artbait should conditions be favorable.

Ethics - no problema aquí.

Legal?? Wouldn't the enticing of them to send you goods like artwork be considered fraud on our part?

Would it depend on the exact way that it was done?

Not that they are ever likely to complain or sue ---
but I do not trust our govt not to decide to start protecting them more than they do our citizens who get scammed by them and come after an artbaiter.

Maybe. Whatever.

Just remember for an art bait you will need a safe maildrop somewhere, it's not really a newbie bait when you haven't got a mentor/even tried a straight bait yet.

Most art baits involve a "contract" that includes a clause saying that the recipient (i.e. the baiter) can refuse payment for the artwork if it's not up to a certain undefined standard.

Whether or not that would actually work in court is another matter- simply because you sign a contract doesn't actually mean the courts will recognise it, and if you clearly had no intention to make any payment, you may still get in trouble.

That said, there has never been a single case where a baiter has been prosecuted for art-baiting. For that to happen, the scammer would have to report you to the police, which is somewhat unlikely.

Yes. Become a Premium Member of this site. You will get access to drop boxes maintained by other members who allow Premium Members to use them as well. That is by far the easiest and most economical option.

It isn't an included service, this site itself does not have anything to do with the drop boxes. Members that have boxes simply allow other premium member to use them. If you have a scammer pay for shipping an art piece to a member's box, you will still have to pay the shipping from the drop box to your address.

PWing again, edskar. Start with straight baiting until you get the hang of it. Straight baiting is the core of most long term baits.

One cannot just pick from a menu and "do a bait". It takes time to learn to properly make a "connection" with a lad to get him to do the deeds that will keep him form victims. After that is mastered, grasshopper, then you may learn more. Ethics here keep us safe not the lads. It is a stop gap that keeps us from becoming like unto a lad. Ima is absolutely correct in that the art baits do have stipulations (fine print) to keep the baiter out of the fraud realm. I will point out again, use the search button above and search the terms "why we bait".

Hoover I never got a pm but that's ok you seemed to have at least found the "new topic" button.

I would ditto all that have said how difficult it is to artbait. I have been working on an art bait for over three months now and will still probably never get it. Reading about the artbaits was what got me interested in baiting in the first place. It takes a long time to convence a lad to trust you enough to spend money and time to send you a art piece. Not that you shouldn't have dreams but know it is a long road ahead. It's good to spend quite a bit of time honing your skills straight baiting too. Also luck has a lot to do with it too. So with that good luck.

Side note there is a little button next to your post called "edit" you may want to learn that one too. Wink
