Hey guys. I used to scambait small-time a few years back, and I'm looking to get back into it. The trouble is, I created a new email to use for scambaiting and I have no idea how to make this email available to lads. I have tried using my new email to respond to scams sent to my other addresses, but none of them have gotten a response. I think maybe they realize they are being baited.
Any tips for putting my bait email address out there? |

search for "guessbook + mugu" or "guessbook + guyman" (without the "" ), post your catcher in said guestbooks, with relevant messages, and wait for the scam mails to come rolling. I get 30 of those per day, from 2 guestbooks.
Alternately, surplus scam letters. |

Hi druosaur and welcome to Eater!
I have never once signed a guestbook nor do I even have a catcher account. When I need a couple of new playthings for general baiting, I just head over to the Surplus, reply to about 10 or so, and in a few days, I have a nice assortment of lads. |

get a hotmail gmail yahooo address
and they will find you
keep it simple though
and you will get a lot more
they seem to automate names to blast out spam phishing for mugus
eg [email protected]
will get you more per week than

I have to disagree, edskar. Rarely if ever do lads just make up email addresses to send their formats to. If you'd like them to come to you, Druosaur, I'd seed some guest books as was recommended by TheProbie, or pick some choice lads out of Surplus as was suggested by DoraTheExplorer.
Good luck! |

maybe
maybe not
i get 99%+ of phishing emails at hotmail
i have gotten many emails with long cc lists
that were apparently just variations on a common
name trying to find which ones are real
eg asmith@hotmail
bsmith csmith dsmith ....
aasmith absmith acsmith....
zzsmith asmith1 asmith2 .....
yada yada
i get plenty without seeding
but that would certainly speed things up |

Are we discussing 419 emails or phishing emails? They are certainly not the same thing. |

removed quote, use these /\/\/\ instead, when replying to a post directly above. - JC
all kinds of scams
a number of them are 419s
but i do get more of those by putting ads on craigs list
hotmail is good for about 30-40 spams a day
rarely a day that 1-2 of them are not phishing or 419s or similar
every craigslist ad seems to generate another half dozen within the week |

Hey Edscar,
Slightly off-topic a moment, but please do try to punctuate your posts a little more clearly! Poor punctuation is harder to read, and is a discourtesy to other forum members (and as English isn't the first language of some of our members, punctuation helps). |

what works for me (even when i am not trying!)
is to put an ad on craigs list
something expensive
and small enough to ship believably
not necessarily tiny but shippable
i have had then even ask me to ship a couch that i was selling so they dont really care about the item or the price as much as your being guillible
i even quoted them 70.000.00,00 euro price once
they never even blinked
just kept on script
in the ad
say that you are willing to work with the buyer
willing to ship anywhere if they pay for insurance
and shipping
they will do an advance fee scam
possibly involving their own shipping agent
who only collects the money
never figured out how they would really ship the item when they never pick it up for packing etc
and are in another country
i guess that they are counting on me being as stupid as them
if you get a legit buyer tell them it was sold already |

If you want a Craigslist scammer then by all means you should go to Craigslist. However, phishing is something that we don't deal with here since this site is focused on 419-type scams.
As has been stated before, the best way to get lads to bait is to either hand-pick them from our Surplus forum or seed a handful of guest books. |

That certainly works too.
I never fail to get an advance fee scam from a craigslist ad when I sell furniture. Other stuff not so much.
Can't say what works best.
Definitely easy to go to the surplus letters and pick one you like.
I get a lot of scam emails just by using hotmail.
The sure way to a 419 is using craigslist based on my experience.
They always want to pay too much for shipping and have you send the difference.
Got 5 of them on the last item I tried to sell for real.
Still have the chair (it was a real ad) when two potential local buyers near to our apartment changed their mind. |

The easiest method to start off with is definitely "Surplus" I think. Once you have successfully interested a few lads you'll find you'll start getting unsolicited spam letters as your address will get added to the lads lists of victims. Alternatively just continue using the Surplus - the lads never bother that they never sent you the scam letter in the first place. |

My guess is that what you are seeing is a sorted list of addies the lad purchased from someone. |

Maybe somebody scammed him.
Really looks like they were testing to find good emails cause they didnt have an actual user name list. |
