Hi everyone,

Loving your work!

I joined last week as I inadvertently ended up baiting a rental scanner (safely from a bogus gmail account) on gumtree going by the name of mike smith. We had some fun.

Now however, I realise that gumtree rentals are full of duplicate ads under different cities with the same photos. So I baited a new one and It went wrong. He wanted a £1000 uk pounds just to have a look round a place which was to be transferred to one of my family members.

I sent him a corrupted file of nothing and he never got back to me, and then accused me of sending him gay porn. lol I said that he owed me £17 for the transfer fee to which he replied that he knew I was lying because the correct fee is £28.

Does anyone know what the fee should be?? This is a UK to UK transfer. The reason I ask is that I've got him again (i'm using a different bogus email) and I want to get everything correct this time.

If anyone wants to have a go at gumtree rentals, they are fighting a losing battle over there because as quickly as the ads go down, new ones appear with the same photos all over the uk. I've only searched under the big cities so the problem could be even bigger.

It was "in person." I'm checking the website but I still can't seem to find a figure for the fee unless it's online. I really need a ball park figure for £1000 in person at a western union money pit. Sorry I should have specified this in my question.

It doesn't really matter because I can't imagine a lad checking, but I usually use around $20-$50 and complain that it is too high and then when the payment doesn't go through there is a cancellation fee which I also have to pay to get my money back. All the more reason to berate your lad about bad WU is and request alternative methods of payment.

I have a question regarding Western Union:
What are the legalities of faking a Western Union receipt?
I know it is not advised to fake passports and ID's just in case scammers use them against genuine persons, but what is the "policy" about faking WU receipts? And is it worth it, because scammers could theoretically check MTCNs online? My goal is to get this one lazy guy to travel to a WU place of business.

Oh, and BTW, the cat seems to be out of the bag on $ecuritie Sheeld, my lad knew all about it, and told one of my personalitites to piss off. (Damn facebook page.)

Another question: His IP addresses (for one of the characters he plays) flip-flops between Benin and Lagos, Nigeria. Normal? Is it a possible accomplice? Do these guys team up or are they generally loners?

Also: the URL for the U.S. pricing info that Seamless generously posted is the correct URL, but you might get a "Page Not Found" message when you click on it. Just paste the URL, or re-enter it when you get the "Page Not Found", and the correct page pops up. BTW, on this page, the country drop-down for "I am sending money to a person in ..." was broken yesterday (I tried to use it), but it's fixed now.

I can't tell you what the legalities are, but despite all the thousands of fake WU receipts baiters have sent to scammers before, not a single baiter has ever been arrested for it.

It is definitely accepted on eater. We even have our own website specifically for making fake WU receipts:

You're right in that WU payments can be checked online, but MoneyGram payments (which you can also make on that website) can't be. Simply tell the lad you'd rather pay through MG and they pretty much always accept.

You can also mess with them by sending blurred scans of WU/MG receipts, or conveniently obscuring the MTCN (the above website has several ways of doing that).

One of the beautiful things about Duezer's fake WU receipts is that the MTCN can be obscured by a cash register receipt (my personal fave) or a coffee stain or something so the lad can't check to see if there is a valid MTCN number. He just has to take your word for it. Of course, by the time he gets back to you complaining about not being able to see the number, your dog has peed on the receipt (or some other excuse) and now you can't see it either. Very Happy

There are definitely gangs of scammers and will often have contacts in the UK or US. It isn't that surprising to find one scammer writing from multiple IP addresses.

So many ideas now! I doubt I'll be able to accomplish anything beyond giving my 'current LAZY lad' some minor annoyance. Tough nut to crack, he refuses to put any effort into working for my imaginary money.
