U.S.P.S only had to drop the packages at the US airport. It was delivered by Dutch TNT.  Next day delivery is quite common when ordering from the larger Dutch web shops over here. Of course the Netherlands are a bit smaller than the US of A, though.  |

Exactly. 
Fyi: It's actually only a 7 hours flight from your place to Schiphol airport, Amsterdam. At night they sort the stuff, and drive it to the regional distribution centers, where it's sorted again for the drivers to pick up in the morning and deliver it the parcels the same day. (just in case someone that can't distinguish Denmark from Holland would be interested at all)

I believe Schiphol is a major cargo center. So there will be more direct flights to it from the US than there is to Copenhagen International Airport (funny initials ).
And the Dutch are a bit more liberal than the Danes. I can image that Dutch customs officer thinking: "This looks like somebody is receiving some marijuana - Perfectly legal here, I'll let it pass!".
So Dutch, you should be happy that the customs officer didn't believe in the "quilt" declaration - That could have gotten you into trouble, with the suspicion of art smuggling
I do wonder a bit about customs here though - Earlier this year I received three shipments for my RepRap from MakerBot industries in Brooklyn. All three shipments had the contents and value clearly stated. But with all the paperwork from a respected company in perfect order, they still opened all of them for inspection 
But this less official one, only stating "Quilt" and $20 value - Well it just got a "FRIGIVET" ("RELEASED") stamp
I was really looking forward to see what customs would make of it - And then they just let it pass  |

I know they do X-ray scan packages. I guess it's clearly visible on a scanner the parcel only contains fabric.

.. I hate to think they opened it and found a real Mrs Cuervo in there.
I showed the goat to my mom the other day. She explained a bit about quilting, and the labour and time that goes into it making one. I had no idea, makes it even more valuable to me. |
