Hi all.
First post here - I've been viewing for a while, and have been thoroughly enjoying myself. Cheers!
I was wondering if any of you, in the course of a bait, ever encountered a scammer who managed to hack or install malware into your system. I've been trying to hook a few names from the surplus letters forum (slow going so far, still on scripts) but I'm feeling a bit paranoid about the thought of risking my system contents...
Thoughts?
A second question - why the heck do so many scammers start most of their emails with some variation of "The contents of your email are well received and understood." That sounds ludicrous - do they think it sounds professional or something, or is there an actual reason?

1) Nope, have never had any malware installed, nor have I ever noticed an attempt to.

Never had the problem - I always check my baiter accounts via the web interface - I usually don't open documents, instead I complain about the file being corrupted and ask for it in bmp or jpg.
The funny thing about "read and understood" is that the majority of scammers don't even read past "Hello". Pretty annoying when we try to get them off script  |

Never had bug problems with lads either. These one probably don't bother cause if they send you a virus to screw up your computer, the less likely they will be able to try to scam you.
With the greeting, I get it a lot too, and I usually respond to them the same way just to have fun, evn if I have to slap them around a bit. I just want to make sure I am well understood.

Personally I've not had any problems with malware so far in my baiting career, probably because it's just not in the lad's interest to infect your computer. If you find out you've got a virus from them, you're hardly going to send them money, right?
As for the greeting, I too have noticed it, and have no idea. |

Maybe the "contents understood" phrase is an excuse to make the victims (or us) believe that they actually read the emails sent to them ? |
