There were a few asking questions about the effects of reporting bank accounts a little while back. To remove any doubt about its effectiveness. here is part of an email i received.

Should I be concerned if I report an account, delay the lad for a week, then reply that my bank said his account was invalid, only to have him check the account himself and say that the account is perfectly fine? I'll stick to my story, but I feel a little silly.

@FranklyMrDear - Yes, delay for awhile, then tell him your banker said there is a "problem with the lad's account. He did not tell you what it was, but said money can't be transferred there to that account. You will need a different account to send a bank to bank transfer." Act dumb about banking problem. If he doesn't believe you and gives you sh1t about it, ask him what you can do about it! The problem isn't on your end, it's on the lad's side! Would he like to write to your bank manager, and ask? Make it his fault, and get mad, or frustrated by it. Focus on the money, and tell him to straighten it out. Ask for another account. Or take the bait somewhere else. Smile

Thanks SH for all those tips - I got my first piggy yesterday (jippie ! ) and I will adopt the same strategy. And immediately go for a second piggy, of course Wink

To Slap Happy. Yes, that's exactly what I do. I really hope I didn't sound bitter above, because I do deeply appreciate Alan's amazing work. A part of me just wishes I could see the direct result, instead of just inferring and the lad saying the account is still OK, even after delaying. By the way SlapHappy, I enjoying hearing your antics on the podcast. Always gives me a laugh.

I think we also need to remember that not all accounts will be closed.

I would think if the evidence is not strong enough, it may not be shut down.

True, but at least getting these reported, most important thing right there.

It's funny, still have not gotten a piggy yet, despite my best efforts. But I do know that I will get it in good time. I love trophies, but I'm not in it for trophies. Just doing my part to help here.

I'm in a weird but good mood tonight, don't know why.

Bank account reporting is very important. Alan is real. The accounts we report do get catalogued with the evidence, and passed to the appropriate bank to close/suspend. Not all banks will act on a single email, but as they see the quality of the information we send is high and dependable, it gets quicker. If you get an account, report it every time - we do know every one gets logged and shared about within the banking world, Alan has been building up allegiances within different institutions with the info we all provide.

Actually, I find that piggies are the easiest to get. It's just a matter of finding the right angle. I've made 12 piggies in 2 months, and I've could have gotten many more if I didn't insist that there have to be an IBAN of ABA/routing no. to validate its authenticy. And it is very good to know that it works. Wink

^^^ A banker told me that swift code and account number is enough to positively identify the account - But make sure that the man gets as much information as you've got.

A year or so ago I ran into a series of lads that speciallized in taking over control of email accounts and playing "I have been robbed in London scams" The lads appeared to be using rented bank accounts from other lads.

In one case I reported 3 bank accounts in 11 hours all from the same lad. All for real were in London. The lad I was baiting didn't seem to care about the loss of accounts. He was very concerned about transfer details so he could "claim" his funds.
