How to classify bait length?

Does the length of a bait technically start when you first send an email to the lad, or when the lad first replies?

Also, if you are baiting as Character A, then Character A dies and his friend, character B, continues the bait, then the bait time is the total of the correspondence time as both characters, right?

I don't think there's any standard way to define a bait's length, but I would start from the first reply you receive from your lad, and the bait continues as long as the "common thread" continues. For instance, if a character dies, but his brother contacts the lad then I would say it is the same bait and the clock continues to run. On the other hand, if you re-bait from a brand new character starting fresh I would not count that as one continuous bait and the clock would re-set.

Scenarios can get a bit complicated:
I killed of my initial character, then had the bait going on through his financial manager. then sort of lost the bait during my vacation. So I started two rebaits as well as dolla chopping the lad from my Russian scammer gang. The two rebaits are tailored to need the assistance of my Russian scammer gang (the lad is about to become a partner). So my Russian scammer gang will of course "assist" my lad in the rebaits.

My question now is: What if I end up having one of those rebaits running for quite a while - Is that still an unbroken line with regards to duration?

It's not that I care that much - just a bit curious Rolling Eyes

I consider it to be from the time I first email the lad, to the time he stops responding to my emails, minus any long breaks (holidays etc).

The actual time he wastes talking to you is more important than the time spent on any particular storyline.

Granted, but for the purpose of claiming a Sand Timer

I would think it would all need to be in one continuous storyline. As you said, Choppa, any time spent baiting a lad is a good use of time. Wink

I personally think the bait needs to be continuous. If you kill a character off, you have another character filling in to take over. But I can see circumstances like Chuda's.

I think it depends upon the bait and how it unfolds.

But I do think there needs to be steady contact at all times. I can see a few weeks with no contact due to RL stuff, but if we're talking months, then I say no dice.

But it's an honor system, anyway.

I've introduced and killed/maimed/fired 5 different auxiliary characters during my Sand Timer

, and the heartless lad has completely abandoned his original script gone all in with my wacky insurance fraud scheme, but I agree with Bluth; it should be a contiguous storyline.
My favorite part is that he asked me for $5000 In January 2009, and now, in September 2010, he's begging for $40 to pay a hooker to pose for photos.

During the time I've been torturing him, Just Jane found him, safari'd him, and dumped him. Which makes me immensely jealous

For 40$ he should be able to do a lot more than just have the hooker posing.

You should tell him that.
