I have been asked for help with a passport renewal. I said no. SHe then said to come and visit her. I can do this but are there dangeres associated with this. Ihe country is Sweden.

I would never go to visit someone. How do you know they won't kidnap you when you arrive?

There was a student in South Africa who was killed doing exactly that.
Went to meet with the lads.
If you put yourself physically within arm's reach of them, you make it easy for them to beat you and rob you.

Don't do it.

So the scammer claimed to be from Sweden? Thats odd, and a bait i'd like to do as i'm a swede.

But where in Sweden did she claim to be from and what did the ip adress say?

It depends what the scam is really like - but in many cases the "travel to meet me" request is just part of the fake story. If you can describe more about the scam, we could advise you better.

Regardless of the story, it is never a good idea to try and visit a scammer, even if you are in the area or know it well.

Share. I'm from Denmark. It the lad is really in Sweden, this could have interesting safari-possibilities if we can get him to come here, and perhaps me on a nearby bench with a video camera (without being seen, of course). Wink

EDIT- Then again I haven't had anyone decline anything, so it may not be me, just a little weird.. whatever the case, do not fall for the trap, do not travel!

DO NOT TRAVEL!!!

95% chance your lad is in some other country and it will come out in your discussions that she's "on business" in Lagos, or something, stranded, please send money blah blah. If you post the emails you've had from the scammer (with the headers!!) we can see where they really are and have a guess at what they're upto Smile

It may well be something slightly different, like an El Mari pro-dater moving West, but we can be pretty confident it'll involve a demand on your money at some stage!
