Dear friends of eater,
Tonight i have been wondering: Is there (besides youtube or similar sites) a platform for amateur television makers where they can host their shows.
I mean, if there is someone who wants to host his/her own weekly newsshow; is there some kind of platform where he/she can do that, aside of youtube?
I have been looking on google, but i couldn't find anything.
Then the second question: if there's not such an platform do you people think there is a need for such?
Of course i mean a site for just television formats (no other stuff like on youtube). So Australian amateur televisionmakers can create their own crimeshow and host it on the platform or a Dutch girl who wants to have her own lifestyle program. '
Of course viewers should be able to look at any show when they want. |

I know you can download Keyhole (which has mostly Japanese TV and Radio with one American channel on it). Just Google "Keyhole TV" to find it. Um, let's see I know there is Hulu, Veoh, Dailymotion, Niko Niko Douga (Japanese Youtube-like website),ustream.tv and Metacafé. But for live TV all I know is Keyhole and Livestation. |

Usualy the problem is absence of necessary technical or filmmaking knowledge and skills rather than inability to "post" it somewhere. I am used to people fantasizing about creating a big thing if they had this&that (cameras, studio, web platform, etc), however everything unfortunately fades when they get something to work with (usualy with claims that camera is not good enough, studio is awkward, etc).
Youtube and vimeo is generaly quite enough a challenge for people to present their abilities. When some guys feel confident enough, they can put up some webpage with linked youtube or some free flash flv players.
/sidenote/
I can't stop thinking of tricking some lads into filmmaking (by their own brilliant scripts f.ex.), and to make them sure about our seriousness, we could put a film production studio webpage, produce some logos and cut a few videos together.
And then, upon successful result, put up a MuguTV with their shows. |
