"dead" spam

These are amusing me. One of my accounts is getting a whole ton of spam with subject lines with the name of a celebrity and indicating they've died.

The email has an attachment I'm supposed to open to read more about this.

The problem is, the malware attempt is much less effective when you receive an entire list of them at once. Some of the names in the subject line don't even match the text.

Kanye West died

The list of this type of emails I've received within the past day also includes:

David Beckham
Jennifer Lopez
Brad Pitt
Jennifer Aniston
Johnny Depp
Nicole Kidman
Justin Timberlake
Cameron Diaz
J.K. Rowling

All with the same text and all received in rapid succession. That must have been a horrific accident, I'm surprised it's not in the news. Laughing

FWIW, the story is a retelling of the crash in 1996 that led to the death of US Secretary of Commerce Ronald H. Brown.

I'm with snerd. It's a clumsy government attempt to make a massive conspiracy look like a little harmless spam. I have no proof of this yet, but you can be sure Conde Nast is in this up to their eyeballs.
