Am writing this with tears, My family and i came down here to London United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed,All cash,credit card and cell were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves soon,but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we clear the bills,please we need a quick loan from you,promise to pay back as soon as we arrive back.

That'a an email sent to people in the addressbook of a phished email account.
It doesn't seem that you know the apparent sender though.

It's a real scam. I've had three different friends who have had their email accounts hacked and that note sent out -- ostensibly from them -- in the last month.

Play along with it. Tell the lad that you're terribly sorry about their predicament and offer to send them the money they need. Send it by Moneygram and give them a fake Reference Number. When they complain that they hiked all the way to Moneygram and the number was wrong, apologize, alter one digit in the number and give them that one instead.

It's great fun!

This is sooo common of a scam, it's called getting "Londoned".
There's even 1 website devoted to just this scam.

OK, I'm on board. Remember when that new member "Sandy" had
this happen to her? We here dealt out swift, blinding, and copious
amounts of our particular brand of justice. As I recall, the fool was
massbaited by 28-30 baiters.

Ok folks,

I just found out from another forum I frequent (antiqueradios.com) that Alfred Corbin's e-mail was hacked into, then this spam got sent off. I thought the name looked familiar but didn't make the connection until 10 minutes ago when I was on that forum. Alfred is NOT in London but home, and definetly not a scammer. So I suggest we stop here unless we are able to find out who is actually setting this up. Again Alfred Corbin is NOT A SCAMMER!!
