could someone please confirm for me if the following website is as dodgy as i think it is?
the initial link is to a gumtree ad advertising one months car insurance for the sum of £30gbp
the website it links to is a very amaturish site the has spelling mistakes, is only available by way of a mobile phone and is one of those free sites that you dont have to pay for hosting etc so my guess is its some noob scammer trying a new idea.
i think its likely that some mugu has got himself a new printer and is planning on just printing off fake insurance documents so people can use it to tax their cars

if it is a scam what do you suggest i do about it?? |

It is very amateur.
It looks like a fake site to me.
No company name ? suspicious !
Reply to the advert and tell them that your brother/sister got insurance from them and was pulled up by the police and they are now investigating it with the `serious fraud division`.
Kind regards

I think this type of insurance is fairly common from major dealers. When I bought my last car, I got a week's insurance thrown in - as soon as I'd signed the papers to buy the car, I was given a number to ring which led to a call centre in India. A few short questions later, my insurance was registered & I was able to tax the car. The difference is that the insurance was arranged by the dealer through a major insurer (Aviva) & it was free. Once that was sorted, I was able to contact my regular insurer & have my policy transferred to the new car starting from the day I was due to pick it up.
It's possible that this is a legitimate business set up to perform the same function for smaller dealers, but I'd agree it looks a bit dodgy. |

Smaller dealers would use the same companies as major dealers and they would also use a landline phone number. i know, I have used one from a a car auction to get a vehicle taxed.
Yes I agree, a bit dodgy |
