Times must be hard. I offered him $10 that he will never see, what can you offer the Ghana Police?

This is an ASEM to previous victims who are chasing their money. Dont worry that the lad has never heard of you, that didnt stop him writing to me.

Holy moly - I hit the jackpot! The GHANA POLICE got right back to me. Not only did they insist I take $630,000 even though I told them twice that I'd only lost $7,250, but they sent me a lovely scanned image of a check drawn on the Zenith Bank (where the scam goes in before the name goes on) in Ghana!

So I told him that I just did a scan-to-bank deposit of his check, no need to send in my $98 for a paper version. Tee hee. Tomorrow I'm going to be very mad when I tell him his check bounced. I'll demand he cover the $30 returned check fee too.

Oddly enough, the Zenith Bank appears to be for real (at least they have a realistic looking web presence).

Or you could explain that you set up a new account in another town and the bank explained that the account was new and you would have to wait (48,72 hours, 1 week) for the check to clear. At this point the possibilities are endless. Check will clear and you took the money and ran before it bounced, returned for fees or a dishonest bank employee offered to clear it for part of the proceeds. You could even offer to take the $7,250 and offer to return the rest by having the lad take over the account.

Too bad, the account is a face to face account in Inuvik NWT

I like it! OK, how about something like this?

"Hello my friend. Let's be honest - I know your check is phony and you know your check is phony. In two more days the bank will know too. So I have withdrawn the entire amount from my bank and transfered it to the Oopa Loopa Bank (or wherever) in Lagos, Nigeria. Now I have a deal for you. If you go and retrieve this money for me, I will split it with you 50-50. You send me $320,000 and you keep the other $310,000".

A safari! Hmm - I wonder if the Ghana Police is gullible enough to fall for this. (And if he'll notice the uneven split). Heh heh.

Or is there some ethics problem with 419'ing the 419'ers.
