Fifa threads are always started by a British friend. Soccer is huge over there in the UK.

Just thought I would throw in my 2c worth....

I am in South Africa, but not really a football fan. However, just being here and feeling the atmosphere and being part of it all has been amazing. The vuvuzela's do get annoying after a while (you cannot even go to a mall without hearing the darn things), but other than that, the experience has been amazing.

I was at our local pub to watch the opening match (SA vs Mexico) - my first football match ever! It is contagious, one cannot help but be drawn in.

The Germans have never got over that one, just as well we won by more than the one goal. They still whine about it, as you have seen.

I watched it live, we came home from a camping holiday in France early to see it. Read the comments underneath the clip for a sense of how controversial that goal has been since 1966.

Have the Canadians got their heads around the fact that the rink seems to have melted yet? Laughing

And summer hockey camp season has just started for the young brain-dead children of parent's who still live their lives vicariously through their kids. Crying or Very sad

EDIT: FYI - President Obama has just announced that when the USA wins the World Cup this year, everyone in the world will then refer to the "beautiful game" as SOCCER. Failure to comply will result in BP drilling off your shoreline.

I know...i've just been bombarded with non stop tabloid bull on 1966 and 5-1 for the past 3 days, truth be told it's gonna be a close one, with Germany probably in for a win. I can still hope though! Smile

I noticed one of the Ghanaian players had printed 'Addy' on the back of his shirt. My first thought was he forgot to fill in his yahoo email add, but figured out later it was his name. Laughing

England have really been driving the second half after that disallowed goal. I still can't believe that. You can already read tomorrow's redtop headlines, the ref and FIFA will come in for some stick
