In light of the truly spectacular baits I am reading here, I won't bore you with what I am sure is some pretty dry, pretty tame, amateur level baiting. I'll just tell you my angle because what is happening with this lad is slaying me over here.

He is pretending to be a young lady in a refugee camp.

I am pretending to be a kindly fatherly gentleman with a lot of money.

You know the routine, I won't bore you with it.

Anyways, I came out of the gate telling her I didn't need the money, but was concerned for her safety. Back and forth with that a bit. She keeps asking me for the bank info she says I promised. (I never did).

I slapped her lightly, telling her I promised no such thing.

Radio silence for a bit.

Then a few sporadic emails from here. Nothing noteworthy.

I slapped her again, telling her if she was sitting on five mil, then surely she could buy a plane ticket, and to stop being so silly about her safety, after all, "It's only money."

More silence. Then last night, I get a gem telling me how another benefactor ended up helping her move her funds to Spain, and she'd like to reward me for my friendship, so would I please contact her lawyer in Ghana so she could mail me a check for a hundred thousand dollars.

So what did I do? I told her how glad I was that she was safe and that I couldn't take her money. I told her to put it away for her education.

I am just about the nicest asshole on the planet, ain't I?

Wonder how long it will take her to lose interest in this? I would think a reasonable person would have by now.

Welcome to eater, HB. It sounds like your "ladette" decided to try a different angle since the first attempt didn't work out too well for her. Nice job getting her off-script.

You might try to string her along by telling her you have connections to a local university and you can probably get her admitted if she is willing to fill out a form or two. Twisted Evil

Hmmm...I just fired off an email to this idiot urging "her" to please consider opening an account for her education. I hinted I might like to help her out with it from time to time.

I wonder if I will get some useful info.

We shall see. I looked up the "piggy" thing. That is for closing bank accounts, am I right? How does that work?

I know, I know, I should sign up for a mentor. I am not really even sure I want to do this for real. I told myself I was just gonna read this stuff and stop at that. Really, I don't want someone to go the all that trouble for me at this point, but here I am with this bait that is giving me some serious jollies.

You could always offer her an escort to Spain just to be sure she gets there safely. This would take a while but I am guessing you could corner her and maybe get a safari?

@HaintBlue - The Closed lad accounts

is for reporting bank accounts used in scamming to a person who will try to get the account closed. We typically don't know if the account actually gets closed so just submitting a report to the proper person is sufficient to award yourself a piggy. Details on how to do this can be found here.

Regarding mentors... mentors volunteer for the job. I am currently mentoring two eater members. We do it because we enjoy it so it is no trouble. How much you use your mentor is entirely up to you. It is not like we put you through a training course. Your mentor is simply a resource who knows his way around eater and baiting and is willing to help you out with whatever you feel you need help with.

If you do want to make this bait last bear in mind that these scammers live for a steady stream of $200-$1,000 fees sent via Western Union. Thus if you want to encourage this lad to pursue "her" education, let her know that you'd be willing to promptly help with any application fees if she's having difficulty accessing her big fund quickly. If you're encouraging her to come visit offer to wire any funds for travel documents.

Unfortunately a lot can go wrong when sending funds via Western Union. I hope you don't have any difficulties with improperly scanned receipts, numbers copied wrong or those blasted security forms that Western Union has started requiring.
