I remember Manute Bol (pronounced "BULL") and saw him play, though only on TV. Several years ago, either "60 Minutes" or "20/20" here in the US, ran a story on Manute. He made a small fortune while playing for the NBA yet lived in poverty IIRC. He would send/spend everything he made back to Sudan. Every time the interviewers would ask why he chose to give up his NBA career, Manute would use it as an opportunity to campaign for sending aid and money to the Sudanese people, he never got off message.
Truly a great person who, literally, gave his all for something in which he believed. |

Manute had a few stints as a Golden State Warrior ball player and I got to see him play many times. He was a wonderful being. |
