I just wanted to give public recognition to some site killers who are slowly and steadily doing some serious damage to lads. Many of you may not venture into the fake sites forum so the tireless efforts of site killers isn't always recognized as well as some of the other things we do here.

Site killers, you rule!

I know I'm leaving out plenty of people who have put in effort in site research and killing, no offense meant, I'm just mentioning those currently regularly active off the top of my head. Please post and let us know how many sites you've killed or add your bit about the damage you've seen it doing to lads' scamming operations!

Of note, the workhorse of site killing, Artemis, is creeping up on 7000 site kills. Artemis, along with Justjay and Fashmo, who no longer keep count of kills, also research tons and tons of sites and help other site killers. There's no glory and no flags, but the effort is admirable.

Caligula just hit 100 site kills, Woody999 and Nigel Tuffnel are over 100 and all three of them kill sites day in and day out.
Dutch has ventured back into site killing after a hiatus, with over 300 kills.

To those of you who haven't given site killing a try, please look at the fake sites forum. It's not that hard and is a great tool for baiters to have.

Apologies to any site killers I've missed, your every post in the fake sites forum makes me smile and makes a lad cry. Thanks for all or you. Wink

Too much attention for our morbid hobby I think, but I noticed that the whole crew didn't miss a beat and even picked up more than before while I was gone, maybe I should stay away (if I could, that is)

Yes Guys and Gals you're doing quietly a very good job and save thousands from being added to the statistics.

My hat also is off to the site-killers. I think like victim warners, they have some of the greatest impact on lad activity (and pocketbooks).

Pah!! Sitekillers!! Never did understand what they see in it. I tried it and couldn't get into it.

Mind you, I'm damn glad they do see something in it and are as successful as they are. Without them there would be many lads a lot richer and many victims a lot poorer.

Ima, you're doing a great job keeping things together as a mod at the Eater fake banks section, and at the same time causing grinding teeth and aching wallets at the lad's ends. Thumbs up

There are so many talented and dedicated people who site kill, and I'm honored to work in their shadows. When I'm stumped by something, there's always a PM to help me through it. I'm still a noob, and there isn't a day that goes by when I don't learn something new from veteran site killers. That support helps me work even harder. Thumbs up

I faced the fact that I simply don't have the imagination it takes to snag a photo with a lad wearing a fish on his head or whatever. I get too impatient with them, deliver a resounding slap, and bait over. Confused

I have found that what I do have patience for is researching and reporting to hosters/registrars in a format they require and can legally act upon. If a lad goes to the expense of setting up his own website to further his scam, it's gotta hurt when it goes down. Of course they blame it on 'hackers', but it's quite simple: research, report valid information, and the hoster/registrar pulls the plug.

My favorite so far is someone I've nicknamed "Parrot Boi." He's trying to sell non-existent African Gray Parrots, using a cheesy website and purloined pictures from a legit site. He had been swatted down at least once before, and twice again since I got involved. Another baiter here on Eater is keeping an eye on him, asking to see pictures of his adorable birds and ready to 'make a purchase', and he's been stalling, citing problems with his website. heehee... When he comes up with enough $ to set up a new site, well, he'd do better to just dig a hole and throw his registration fee into it. Very Happy

In the meantime, the lady who runs the legit website knows that there are folks to get in touch with -- raising these beautiful birds is how she makes her living. (Did you know African Gray Parrots can live 50 to 60 years?!)

It's a long-winded way to say that site killing might seem a bit dry to some, but not only does it cause lads' wallets to weep, there are RL folks who benefit from our efforts, too. I'll never know how many, and they'll never know either -- perhaps due to our efforts, a site didn't exist long enough to claim victims.

It's good to see results, and damned irritating to have sites that are blatantly fake not taken down! I encourage anyone who feels a bit sick of baiting to step into the fake sites side of things - just as worthy a cause!

Site killing is actually quite fun. I'm not completely sure why I enjoy it either, but I do, and of course I'll stay around (especially given that I've just discovered that aa419 has a forum and a huge cache of unreported sites Wink

)

Site killers do a fantastic job! I tried it but it was hard for me.
It is much easier to sit and talk with a lad in chat for hours like I'm doing right now than to research all those sites.

I agree with the above. I tried it too, but i don't have the patience for it. It can be frustrating too when the hosts don't co-operate. Now i just assist with kills now and then. If anyone has reported a fake site at redhosting, which is based in the Netherlands, and doesn't see results, just PM me and i'll give them a call. They know me by now. Cool
