I just picked my avatar tonight. I picked the Killdeer (known as "killdee" in these parts.) We have lots of them around here. They nest on the ground, and they lure our cats and dogs away from their nests by fluttering across the ground like they're injured and vulnerable. They always stay a few steps ahead of the predator and then fly away once they've accomplished their task. Seems like a natural mascot for a baiter!

Welcome Lou. Great explanation on your avatar! Yes, baiters lure scammers away. I had a rodeo bull fighter as my avatar for much the same reason.

Well, I wanted something unique, cute and different. Duck billed platypus filled the ... need. They have a beaver tail but not the teeth, so seem to be more friendly than say a koala.

I think it shows my solidarity with the other hemisphere folks. Also I love to swim and so do platys. More details by PM.

Mine is actually a cropped down copy of a larger pic with static and graphics painted in to look like it's an image on a monitor.
In the full version, she's carrying a very large hi-tech spear-like weapon.
That thorn would really hurt! Twisted Evil

One of the moderators here, Nurse Nasty, made the one I have now. My last one was determined to be "too scary." This one makes way more sense. Pretty flowers, a pink dress, and a cat head. It suits me. Smile

You all put so much thought into your avatars. I just get bored with one so I grab a new one from my hard drive. It changes randomly, almost always dog or cat (mostly because I really haven't mastered photographing small animals, so my ferret/rodent/bird photos are still generally blurry). The only thing they all have in common is that they were in the shelter when I took the photos.
