She was one of my favorites in the contest but she wasn't the best one out there (In my opinion)and definitely think somebody else deserved it but still congrats to Lena though.

I wish the rest of Europe the best of luck with with the ESC the coming ten years. The Netherlands won't be participating in the finals for the coming decade. It seems that the NOS (Dutch Broadcast Foundation, literally translated), which pays for and broadcasts the ESC over here and therefore determines who we send, has decided that we'll keep on entering Dutch songs for the coming decade.

And with this years brilliant tactic of having this guy write a song and then have 5 artists perform it, and then enter the artist that produced the best result from the crap they had to work with...

...I have lost any faith in us reaching the finals for the coming decade...

ETA: Oh god.. This guy has apparently said to our artist: "I told her that she can be proud of its actions. Her career will now be characterized by Sha-la-lie" (Google translate). Poor kid, having you carreer characterized by this song... Crying or Very sad

What amazes me is that some European nations still actually take the competition seriously.
Here in the UK, it's seen as a joke - especially since the old Soviet satellite nations joined in with thier block voting.

The Dutch have got it right (although 25 years too late) by pulling out. Eurovision should have been left to die decades ago.

Wish we could hear snippets from the other countries commentators to see if they are as irreverently funny with their remarks as TW was and Graham Norton is.

We watched it (and yes, we do think of it as a joke!) Even joined in with that jazzy dance thing before the scoring (well I did anyway Laughing

). My favourite was Belgium's entry with Greece as next favourite.

Congrats to Germany.

^The Swedish commentators were Christer Björkman, Lena Phillipsson (Melodifestivalen 2004, Eurovision 2004), Marie Serneholt (A*teens, Melodifestivalen 2009), Thomas Lundin (Finland-Swede speaking the Finland dialect of Swedish), Kayo (Afro-Dite, Melodifestivalen 2003), and Rennie Mirro.

Inför Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is the program on SVT in which those commentators appear on.

Ah, Eurovision, that annual event of faux Euro-solidarity and political voting. ('We gave you 10 points, please don't invade us!') Tacky, wacky and completely OTT. I swear every year that I' m not going to watch it but I always end up being pulled in.

Where else can you have a full-on emo Bjork-like song about the global destruction wrought by humanity to the planet (Ukraine) followed by a song that is also that country's world-cup song which consists of about 3 words and is performed with everyone shaking their bum from side to side (France)? Genius. Rolling Eyes

I usually play the 'sounds like' game. BTW, did anyone else think the German singer sounded like Kate Nash?

I think that is where she get her "accent" from.
At the moment germany is in a Lena-hype.
But with all the drugdealer and ex-prisoners from the other castingshows she is the light in the darkness.

I really thougt denmark would win - the song was really catchy.
But I was shocked when Greece was getting so many points - hope it was just out of pitty.
At least the pansy from the UK got his deserved placing...

^ Agree it was a rubbish song, sung weakly with no power in the voice, and the backing group were out of tune. Deserved to be at the bottom, whatever Graham Norton might think.

The Danish entry (Abba-lite) did get some good marks, with a bit more 'pizaz' to the performance it might have got there.

For the love of all that's sacred, MoP, at least add a warning to your post! I have no problem eating mousse au chocolat while watching 2girls1cup, but that Sha-la-li Sha-la-la really should be banned from YouTube. If I'm having nightmares for the coming two weeks I'll blame you!

I think the rest of Europe has caught on that we in the UK don't take this competition seriously so don't vote for us anymore. Well, we do take it seriously, but not in a good way. Wink

I think Hera Björk from Iceland had such a great voice but I know a lot of people were judging her on her weight, and how she wasn't anorexically skinny like Lena (not to say that she is, but looks is practically everything to become more marketable or at least that's why they told my friend that because she was heavier but had a good voice.).

This would be how I would have had it.

4. This is my life- Anna Bergendahl (Sweden)

I think they didn't vote for us because we sent along someone who probably came ninth in a x-factor like competition with a song taken from Pete Waterman's "Jason Donovan Rejects" file.
