Trying to install Java on Linux Mint 9. I've Googled my ass off, no joy. I have the Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20 installed on FF, but there are about 30 other Java programs in the software manager. Click. The package manager also has a large array of Java packages.
The DVD iso included Java, but I didn't have any blank DVD's, so I upgraded from Mint 8 with the CD iso, which didn't include Java.
Any suggestions?

sun-java6-jre + sun-java6-bin is the Java runtime.
Also, you can't install packages from the internet?
ETA: What's that window border theme called? And is there a kwin4 version?  |

Java is only available on the full dvd version. The cd version is aimed more at netbooks. You could try getting it via the console:

If that don't work, you could ask on the Forum
I tried Mint 9 but couldn't get my wireless to work which is a shame as it looks good with all those extra goodies. Sticking with 8 for now.

Scratch the terminal idea. I gave it a go but it's not available via sudo or aptitude by the look of it.
Looking on my Mint 8 installed packages it looks like you need:
