^^ No they won't.

No crime that can be prosecuted has taken place unless money changes hands.

In some countries there is a law against "intent to defraud" but using it against the lads would be like herding cats.

Mr Hunt left a message on his mobile to the lat-ette swearing eternal love before the train pulped him. The comments I read on this story on another forum led me here.

Sure, but as you said, it's still brilliant news. In the victim's world, one criminal wasn't only one among thousands alike. I mean, he was only one but it was enough. If I think of the masses of lads all around the world, I may feel useless but I still bait one by one to burn their time and resources. Besides, it's always good to know that at least somebody is interested in law&order in West Africa and arrests are possible, if rare.

My horror is that most Lads reading the story will just be excited to learn it's possible to earn sums of money like that. For most of them a few hundred dollars is sufficient but to realise what's possible is liable only to encourage them. Sad

^I was thinking the same, GP, but I suppose lads know many examples of guymen who make big monies (like notorious Mr G0mer) even without following the news. I hope there are at least a few yahoo bois who hear about the arrest and get a bit worried and paranoid, if nothing else.

They use fake images. That in itself is not always illegal. They'd need to get the image of the passport spot on or it's just any other piece of photshopping.
The passport would also have to physically exist and it would have to be proven that the lad is intent on using it for an illegal purpose.
