We have the remains of 2 egg shells in our garden, they are light blue with small black specks they are about one and half inches long.
Has any one any idea what bird laid these eggs? |

The birds seen around the garden, wood pigeon, ring doves, starlings, house martins, robins and pied wagtails, have a book on birds, but it does not show their eggs. |

None of them, I'd go with Slightly's alligators. They sneak into your garden late at night and climb up to the nests. They eat what eggs there are, and lay their own, like a cuckoo. When they get too big, they slip off down the sewers.

Connie has the nearest, same colour but with small black dots not joined,
we think that it is a house martin.
We use to have a house martins nest for some time, until this year in the UK, it must have got too heavy, as it fell down, last winter, never had any egg shells left until now.
I must thank the serious members who tried to help, the other clever people who joined in, what can I say!  seems about right.  |

Sadly, something stole the Western Bluebird's eggs that my son was watching. We have tried to critter proof the bird house now.

By the by, out bluebird couple got busy again, layed 6 eggs and all of them have now hatched. My son has been documenting it with pictures approximately every other day.
I think I'll do a photobucket page of their journey. I'll post a link when I do it.  |
