So I found this article of a girl whose Facebook and Hotmail accounts got hacked by somebody in Jarkarta, Indonesia (That's where the IP-Address was tracked to) where the hacker began posting intimate pictures of the girl all over the web and eventually those pictures ended up on porn sites.(Because the hacker sent the pictures and the receivers of the emails kept sending them on) She got the Norwegian and Swedish police involved but nothing really could be done. She even had Microsoft send her a new password but unfortunately it was sent to the hacked email address and the hacker had full control over it. These pictures were later sent to co-workers and friends. So the girl is offering a reward to those who help her find the hacker.

This just goes to show you that if what you post on the internet can and will be used against you and also to make your passwords strong so that a hacker won't be able to cease it without a lot of difficulty.

Also a good reminder not to keep intimate pictures of yourself in your email account. Shocked

I don't read Swedish, so this is just a guess. A girl cot caught with her intimate pictures on the internet and she needed an excuse for it, thus a hacker.

Why would Microsoft sent a new Password to a hacked account? Seems odd to me. Maybe Microsoft didn't think through their action very well.

I'm just saying...

But the email from Microsoft sent to her email hacked. And the hacker had already planned the next step.

- The pictures sent to my family and my employer. He had taken control of my life and knew exactly where I was working and which ones were closest to me.

The IP address was traced to Jakarta, Indonesia. But Matilda is convinced that the hacker uses a so-called proxy service to change the identity of the IP number.

In the end she tried to get help from the Swedish police.

- They said they could take over the investigation from the Norwegian police, but it could take up to six months. In the meantime, I would "try to forget it and move on," said police.

Appeals for help
Since the police can not help her, Matilda and the people around her at all hours devoted to trying to get websites to remove the photos.

- My friends and my family have been worth gold. But we can not sit and watch the internet so therefore I go out with the name and image in the media.

I advise my friends to not to use their real name when signing up on networking sites and never use the same name twice, and be a little inventive when choosing a PW.

Years ago someone signed up here with an unusual username. Bored, I did a little googling and found him splashed all over the net. After no more than 15 mins digging I PMd him his full name, home address and phone number found by piecing together bits of info gathered from various sources, along with a photo of him and his Mrs on their boat, and even a pic of his restored front door I found he'd posted on a DIY site.

To say he was a bit shook up would be understating it. He PMd me back to say thanks and that he was going to go clean up the trail he had left, but as far as know he never came back here again. Laughing

It is alot of information to get just from the facebook account, don't upload your photos if you don't want anyone else to see them? don't use the same password for your email that you do for your facebook and everything else, unless you are sure it's strong enough to last, and be damn careful where you go entering that information.

And as for the porn sites.... I just don't understand why the accept photos that they shouldnt be taking, yet they won't accept my naked photos. Laughing

ParaNoid: She must've had them in her email account and the hacker found them there. But then again why in the world would you have pornographic pictures of yourself in your email account or even Facebook? On another note concerning this, one of my managers was fired because of what she had posted on her Myspace account, Facebook and Twitter work the same way when it comes to employers finding content to fire you, prevent you from getting a potential job and etc over something they found. Which is why I make my things private and use clever usernames so that potential employers, or my boss won't try to add me or find out information that I don't want them to know. Not that you should be posting that sort of stuff in the first place but if you keep it private so that nobody can find. As well as making a strong password (Numbers, and special characters help apparently) than you should be fine.
