One of my favorite sources for scammers' email addresses for my ASEMs has been www.419baiter.com but the site appears to be dead as of this morning. There is a "This site has been suspended" note on the http://www.419baiter.com/_scam_emails/scammer-email-addresses.html and other pages. Sigh. Sad

I hope this is only temporary.

They used to update the site with new scammer addresses weekly. But those updates seemed to get farther and fewer between since December/January. I think it went nearly 3 months without any updates, although that I think there was one only a few days ago.

If anyone here has any connections there, an update on what is happening there would be welcomed.

Of course, this could be an opportunity for someone here to do something similar -- to grep scammer email addresses from various catcher accounts and compile a weekly list of fresh addresses.

That was an incredibly valuable tool for both ASEM's and potential victims trying to find more info on the lads email address. I remember the days of the 419 repository that was updated daily. Sad

For what it's worth, here is an extract of my personal catcher account with an overview first and the address list at the bottom. (By the way, feel free to leave the address [email protected] in lad-friendly guestbooks.) There's the occasional Viagra or university degree spam, that's why I'm including the subject.

If you have a catcher account, the easiest way to harvest emails is to view the page source and paste the contents into this: Email Extractor Lite 1.6

You won't get any addies contained in the body text but it'll still give a good few lads to be getting on with.

Last night, I had copied almost 1,500 email addresses from 419baiter for the next round of my mass ASEM script. Looks like I did it just in time! Here's hoping this is only temporary. Sad

The dissappearance of 419baiter.com could be caused by angry lads or the owner can't pay for the hosting of the site anymore.

I read the above blog and I am fecking disgusted.
This person has never spent time on a scambaiting board. I ask any one of you... what would you do if you were baiting 100 scammers and you realised one of them was white??? Speaking for myself, I would drop the 99 others and bait the white scammer to death because I know that he/she would be better able to convince their victims.

If I reply to 1000 scammers emails I have no idea if the person who sent them is black, white or yellow. Colour doesn't come into this.

I believe the person who owns 419Baiter has an account here but can't remember his name. Hopefully the site is sorted out soon.

Regarding the racism article: I hadn't seen that before. It's so ignorant that if it wasn't so offensive to us it would be downright hilarious in it's ridiculousness.

Don't you know that fighting crime is racist? We should all be progressive and let criminals do whatever they please.

For the record, to any supporter of that article reading this, I - as well as many other baiters - couldn't be bothered to get photographs out of these guys. That said, how can all us evil white supremacist baiters even know for certain what race the person on the other end of the letters is?

For Christ's sake, try to think for yourself once in a while.

EDIT: Oh, and just to further the point, not everyone on this forum is "white" by everyone's standards, including myself.

Amen to that. Baiters and scammers alike operate in a world of deception. It is our common stock-in-trade. With rare exception, nothing is ever confirmed as to the location, race, or nationality of the parties involved on either end.

For me it is the same as for most other baiters: got one who is white for sure or at least from europe it is more fun. But wait, that is also racism, I think...

I recognize that we are all prone to stereotype others. When I get an email with loads of misspelled words and a lot of broken syntax and it promises me at least six figures, I assume, fairly or unfairly, that it came from somewhere in Africa and a check of the IP address usually confirms it. But if it came from somewhere else I am just as prone to bait it.
