Liquid cooling never evaporates for the same reason the coolant in your car doesn't. It is a closed cooling system. Unless you got the throwback swamp cooler...

So, what you guys are saying is that I should pour liquids into my computer to cool it down? It sounds crazy, but I guess it makes sense.
Hopefully this works better than the way everybody told me to haxor-proof my phone via microwave...

Did you know placing refrigerator magnets on your computer near the hard disk and DIMM area will protect it from government scrutiny as well?

I spend so much time on my PC I never thought of it as a frippery. Actually, I have never thought of anything as a frippery as I just learned the word Laughing

Anywho, it's good to have something nice every now and again. It really wasn't that expensive.

Slightly your system can't handle half life from 15 years ago so how would you know?

Perhaps you can find an Atari 2600 or even a NES emulator so you can play too.

Have you tried turning your graphics card settings up?
Or is that as high as they will go?

I'd stay away from Half Life 2 if I were you. Your PC probably wouldn't be able to handle it.

Actually no I haven't. Steam couldn't detect the optimal setting for my video card because it was still a little new and not used by enough people yet. By default it set everything on low.

The only thing I changed was the resolution size from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 720 wide screen. I'll see if there is anything else I can change or if raising the the resolution to 1600 X 900 make that big of a difference.

Checking now. Every thing but shader detail was set to high. I set shader detail to very high and enabled mulitcore rendering. I set the resolution to 1366 x 768. If I see an improvement I will go higher.

Slightly, if you want one just save up your beer money for a few months. You'll have one in about four months if you drink as much as it seems Laughing

Edit: anti aliasing mode was set to none. I changed it to the highest 8X MSAA

Keep an eye out for smoke coming out of the top of the tower.

I turned up something else to the highest as well. Filtering mode I think. Says it sharpens details. Resolution was set to 1600 X 900. It looks a little better.

Why smoke? What does 8X MSAA do?

My system was designed for gaming. On the highest setting there wasn't even a loading delay or any choppiness during game play.

You system might smoke but that is what happens when you buy cheap parts and put it together yourself.

BTW, HalfLife2 runs fine on XPS 400 with maxed DIMMs, XFX Geforce 9500GT

make sure you set the in-game resolution to match the screen resolution on your LCD mate else you get crap results no matter what you try.

L4D P1 played just fine on my old system. If you can run HL2 then L4D should work fine.
