ive been pushin my lad to get a tattoo, he is keen and all that, but the money issue keeps coming up, i have been suggesting borrowing from friends, or paying the tattooist after he gets paid by me, the ussual stuff. today i he tells me he got a payment today and its nearly enough for the tattoo so he will have it soon.

Im a bit worried this 'payment' might be a legitimate victim.

im playing a bit of a oga roll so im using that to my advantage and trying to get details out of him, if it is a vic i will be trying to get a contact email from him. but i dont know if he will give it to me as I chopped his dolla once already so he might wanna protect his payments.

any advice on how i can get these details from him. I will be pass them onto a mod if and when i can get them.

It might, but he'd be scamming or trying to scam that victim even if you weren't trying to get him tattooed. So you aren't responsible. You're wasting the time of a scammer, which is all that matters.

Could also be he already had the money anyway, but just didn't want to spend it, hoping that if he stalled enough then he'd get money out of you instead.
Easy for him to just say that he got paid recently if his stalling doesn't work.

It is entirely possible that the lad has received a payment from a real victim. It is important that you make sure that he spends it wisely, and blowing the lot on a tattoo of your choice is, in my book, a wise use of the money.
On the other hand, he might just be lying, and has borrowed the money, still a good idea he gets the tattoo.
He has, by declaring that he has got the funds, defused the no money arguement, but beware of an email asking for 'just that little bit more cash'

ok, more indepth explanation, he never asks me for money, he knows the rules, he wants to join gboyz, and has been told if he begs us for anything he can forget it. so cash issue was real as he really wants in, he wont ask me for the last little bit of money either thankfully. (had this lad for a long time, know how he works and when he is lying) he has been working pretty much along the lines of "as soon as i have money im tattooed and in the gboyz" kind of mentality

when he told me he got a payment he was pretty proud of it, and he hopes to get more this week. im fairly confident its a victim, either that or he got a real job.

@Mr TM your right im not responsible, but i have this damn little voice in my head that makes me protect people i have never met. comes from working security for so long.

i replied telling him if he gives me the address of his payin maga i will find out the password for the box so he can keep a good eye on em. and get more dosh. since he thinks im a master hacker it will hopefully work

^^ i talk to him on his private email, doubt he scams on it, the original email i picked up long ago has since been closed, I got it out of surplus. Hopefully i can just get the email of whoever is paying him and the mods can have a chat to them.

^agreed, getting the vics details, if there is one, and passing the details onto Scamwarners to get someone on the case of warning the victim would definately 'trump' getting a tattoo.
If you do and the victim can be warned off you have an opportunity to create a similar email address to the victim and take over any further payments to the lad, only now there'll be a few problems getting the money through. But as Chairman you can help the lad to get them.

I dont know what scam he is using to post it, i dont know what email address he is using to post that either. i Have his IP thats about it. I have the scam and email addy he was using 6 months ago, and they where posted on there 6 months ago. For now i will just concentrate on getting the vics details and then I will have someone at SW step in.

@ inspector, saving a vic from getting in deeper would defidently please me more than the tattoo. Although that will still come later down the track.

My concern is how to get the vics details from the scammer. So they can be passed onto someone at SW.

^^ That is the trouble I don't know anyway the scammer would tell you the email of his mule.

In the UK I think the bank would notify the police of any 'irregular activity' in an account especially a new one. The UK poilice have a section that investigates where 'vulnerable adults' may be concerned and they are very well trained!

Or course the way the police react does depend on the person concerned, in your position I'd report the account just as I have reported more that 30 already. Alan, our guy in that field will I am sure take care not to hurt a vicitm.

Im playing an oga to get my lad to join Gboyz, i talk to my lad on his private email ie. [email protected] so i dont know his scam email any longer.

the lad has just now (several hours ago) informed me he received a payment. ie a successful scam against someone.

So my plan is, to use my oga status to get him to divulge his victims email, so i can have someone at scamwarners notify the victim that they have been scammed.

I let you know if he is nice enough to divulge that info, as we dont want this poor vic to pay him again.

that would be excellent if you could. My thought is that giving away a good maga will require a significant escalation of trust between you and the Lad; trust which will go out of the window when the maga stops paying.

with that said, getting him to spunk out money on tats is better than leaving him with it is a good thing. he'd only have spent it on cafe time, or mobile credits, or transport, or food ... Any diminishment of resources is a victory.

If he gets the tattoo, and you can persuade him to jump through a few more hoops, he will invest progressively more and more of his trust in you. Keep up the good work as there's a good chance you could assist in rescuing his victim.

Please, never do this. This is essentially impersonating a real victim and baiting with their real information.

@Huntington: Possible ideas: maybe you can congratulate him on his "earnings" and if it came from a "job" tell him you'll help him work the job to maximize payout. OR, ask if it came from a "job" and then tell him you don't believe him and ask him for some sort of proof. You may be able to get enough for us to get him/her warned via ScamWarners.

so it seems i dont have enough trust as his oga, i will have to use this in the bait in a way that will hopefully get him to tell me the addy.

edit: thanks ima, your input always appreciated, i had started my attempt and think i need to continue down the same path now tho, otherwise risk losing him, and anychance of the vic being warned. any ideas to work on the current bait lines would be great.

Personally, I think this lad has borrowed money from friends or a loan shark so far.
If you look at some baits (and I have a few unpublished), the lads are literally crying as they type as they have genuinley wasted cash money in the hope that they will be a successful businessman.

He needs a tattoo without the hug! Evil or Very Mad
