What the hell is demorage? I just received this

No i dont know what the means, I did a search on it and a quick scan of google results showed all them as being

@ Huntington, I can answer that. No it's not a "made-up" term by lads
it just sounds that way. Demurrage is almost an ARCHAIC term for a
storage in a warehouse term. Go along with it. Pretend we all use that term all the time. It's in the same class as "Modality".
Demurrage= storage cost. =$$$$'s money of course. a tacked on fee. |

Great news that the term "Dumorage" links back to info on 419 scams via Google. Let's encourage the use of this exact term by lads whenever possible.
Huntington, it sounds like you'd best pay that fee promptly - those charges could really eat into your fund before long! |

"Dumorage" I guess will be OK. It's Demurrage as I remember.

In finance (the industry I work in) there is a term "Demurrage" which means the cost of holding and securing physical money or "money-like" wealth (such as gold) - say the cost of storing gold in a bank vault - but these days we usually call it the "carry cost".
Somewhere back in the dim and distant past a lad got hold of this word, thought it sounded important and shoved it in a script.
If you lad uses it you have an ideal opportunity to mess him around because an alternate meaning of Demurrage is used in shipping and is the charge levied by a ship or container owner to the person leasing the ship/container for any delay in returning the ship/container after use (for example if offloading of the ship is delayed in port). I have used this successfully for several rounds of email as a lad tries to work out a reason why I am having to pay for a ship in Lagos harbour to unload  |

Demurrage used to also include Acetylene/Oxygen take rentals..
The charge before it was returned to fill again..

One of my lads just came up with a "dumorage charge" to explain why the fee was raised from £2000 to £8500...
I never heard this word before so I googled it. The second hit on the googlelist lead me to this thread. Funny 
So I guess I just pay the charge then. |
